Johnny - Make sure the tapered shaft of the tie rod is sqeaky clean. Do the same for the bore of the steering knuckle. Then, insert the tie rod shaft, and apply gentle upward pressure on the underside of the tie rod with a floor jack or similar equipment. The surfaces of the shaft and bore inside diameter will lock together from friction while you torque up the nut.
