[DML] New Antenna

I bought a new antenna, one of the same models that are being offered on 
ebay.  I got mine from a different source but the instruction I found 
said that it is ok to remove the current antenna relay as this new one 
has a relay built in.   I have installed this with the relay out.  I was 
just wondering if one of our more experienced electrical people can 
explain the funtion of the original relay and would it be a problem if a 
new antenna was hooked up to it
