I just measured my alternator (Motorola) against the passenger valve cover with stock air filter housing in place. Appears it could be mounted up there with slightly more than half an inch to spare -- tight but doable. "Lower" radiator hose would be routed through the drive belt. Belt might be tad close to the throttle spool -- one possible solution is a Volvo water pump with dual belt pulley, driven by a slightly longer A/C compressor belt in the outer groove. Alternator could then be driven from the crankshaft pulley alone.
