This repair is a lot more than just replacing a few rusted spots! When replacing a whole section it is customary to double the joint like you intend. Since you are doing such a massive "graft" refer to R:02:02-:03 for all the dimensions that you MUST adhere to. The general way to do it is with a plumb bob dropping the points to the floor and then measuring. With all the work involved you might be better off trying to get another frame. If the front is this bad you might have problems with the back around the motor cradle too. If the frame was in an accident that ruined the front than you may never get it straight enough again. If you are worried about rust maybe you should just get a S/S frame. It should outlast you!
