The only disadvantage I can think of is the extra effort required to remove and reinstall and the small chance of stripping the bolts on the battery terminals. The BIG upside is that you get to clean everything up and eliminate the possability of electrolysis in the cooling system. In fact building codes say you are supposed to remove the battery if you are charging the battery in the car in the garage. Although there is a lot of debate about keeping the battery on a piece of wood and not on steel or concrete the fact is they DO last longer and keep their charge longer if kept on wood even if no one can agree why.
