They are relatively high-strength bolts. They are not hard to find. Otherwise nothing special about them, I actually buy exactly the same ones at the local hardware store, still in "hex". I'm not sure why they are hex screws other than they may tend to tighten more uniformly without washers than regular bolts. The torque setting on those is actually very light - maybe 15 ft-lbs if I recall correctly - but use loctite on the threads.
