Roland, Welcome to the family. I work in San Bruno and wasn't aware of one for sale in the area. Congratulations on the buy. I won't be of much help with the automatic transmission... but I'm sure others will. The spedometer however, is a battle I've fought, and often. You might simply have the wrong lower spedo cable on the car (runs from the front left wheel, into the car, and connects to a box in the driver's footwell). There are both 160 and 170 mph replacements available. I have the 160 in mine. You can get these from any of the DeLorean vendors. If you're going to be in San Bruno with the car again any time soon, let me know and I'll have a look at it for you.
