Get the automatic trans fluid out of the 5-speed. It cannot properly lubricate the final drive. Drain and refill with #85-90 gear oil. I would drain and refill again after 500-1,000 miles. The silicone on the seam is normal but I am guessing the trans is moist, automatic trans fluid is thinner than gear oil so it would leak out easier.
