this list is great I actually got three places for carpet and samples from

Its getting hard to find light grey carpets now since many are faded
(almost like the asphalt at my shows LOL"
Anyway I refurb a lot of DeLoreans and carpets are the most expensive and
least attractive part of the car in my opinion.
Hopefully these add a bit of class to the car

thought I would mention that since I had a big family reunion about a
month ago, my wife and I are staying close to home this weekend. So

I'd be willing to front some money to have them reprinted. I've got a neighbor friend who owns an Instyprints (it's a Kinkos equivalent)... so maybe I could even get a discount on getting them printed. If you look into the old webzines on the DMC news site- ftp://dmcnews.com/pub/zine003.pdf it has a Mesa, AZ address for the cards. Maybe James Espey used to do them then? Unless there aren't any copyright issues, I guess someone could send me a used card, and I can see what I can do as far as getting them reprinted. I agree it'd be cool to have them again.

Now wait a minute here - Preference is one thing but facts are
another.
Having owned 2 5 speed Ds and put over 100,000 on then (combined)
and now owning an automatic in which I have put over 40,000 miles, I
think I can compare both in depth. First, for the first 100 yards a
properly tuned auto is quicker than a 5 speed. The auto is great in
traffic. Zipping around is much easier in an auto and the response
time can be much shorter in timing maneuvers because there is no
clutch-shift action to mess with. Highway driving in an auto though
is not quite as enjoyable to me because, at 80-85 miles an hour,
you're looking at 4,000 rpm. For me that is just too high for
sustained driving on cruse. 3,000 to 3,400 rpm is better in my mind
so, on cruse, I stay at 70-75. Third gear in an auto is 1:00 ratio
while 4th gear in a 5 speed is 1.057 to give you a comparison and,
there is the torque converter slippage which adds to the rpm some.
As for reliability, well that can be an issue. However, I believe
there is enough intelligence and know-how out there that most of
those issues are solved. We can fix the governors and the oils
leaks. It constantly amazes me the know-how and persistence
demonstrated on this forum. I have use that know-how and added my
own thing as most of us like to do and I am quite confident in the
reliability of the auto. BTW, mine does not leak.
Of course it always comes down to preference and the type of driving
you do. If the auto had one more gear or maybe a lockup torque
converter? Something to keep my mind busy with.

If they work they are most likely ok. You can test the resistence
against a new one to confirm condition. They are not a known for a
high failure rate.

Yes, I had a similar situation some years ago. I was coming back from PJ
Grady after getting some minor work done on my DeLorean. While driving back
into Manhattan and merging onto on the very busy Williamsburg Bridge, when I
happen to see another DeLorean some cars ahead of me in the next lane. I
quickly drove up to the DeLorean and waved "Hi" to him and he I signaled me to pull
over at the foot of the bridge on Delancy Street.
We both had left our doors opened and talked for a little while. During our
conversation, many people driving by were either slowing down or stopped to
look at our cars with the doors opened. The on lookers were staring in
amazement which almost caused several accidents. Anyway, we decided to leave
before we became part of a possible accident that we could have caused because of
the curious on lookers that we were attracting.

This doesn't really count, but I was followed home one afternoon by a guy in a Chevy Tahoe. When I finally got out of my car he explained he had followed me all the way across town because he wanted to see who else drove a DeLorean in town. It turns out he has an '83 with "dual color" interior, and lives in my neighborhood... no more than a half mile away from me. This is in my parents home town of Sanford, NC... it has a population of about 20,000 people... so I thought it was pretty cool there was another owner in such a small town. Darren Decker has a pretty similar story with how he met Bill Lane, a fellow DeLorean owner in Winston-Salem, NC. It's situations and stories like this that makes it fun to own one of these little cars :-).
