Sorry, I mean when trying to start the car, as in you've turned the key
all the way to the spring-returned key position to turn the starter.

The AC itself is most always running in my car (yeay, California). If
you try to start the car with the AC on, the cooling fans will turn off
so the starter can turn.
If the fans are on because the car is too hot, then the cooling fans
will stay on when you try to start the car, thus drawing to much power
and keeping the starter from turning over (as far as I can tell).

Good point. I was wondering about battery drain if they ran, and
didn't even think about how far the fans are from the engine. Figured
I should check just to be sure.

The fan ones were particularly hot; I noticed them because I tinker
with them the most. I still had the original fan fail relay until a
couple weeks ago. There's a three-way jumper in there now until my
Fanzilla comes this week. I tightened all the sockets as per
www.deloreanparts.com, but have yet to see if that's making a
difference with the heat.
Unfortunately, my auto trans just decided to stop working, so I haven't
been able to look at this any more yet. Boy those things are pricey.

Subject: The DMC Story
It is with great embarrassment that we apologize for the way the
original message was taken. While I can see how many of you would be
upset upon reading it, the true reason for the original post "Help!
My New DMC" or whatever it was called, was not to down Rob or the
crew at all, (and we're sorry it sounded that way) but more to give
the history of the vehicle thus far and possibly get help in solving
some of the small problems we were having.
Unfortunately, the "history" of our DMC was hastily written (and to
make it worse) from the previous owners' point of view, who them-
selves just wanted rid of the car. We understand that the car will
need some work, that's part of the reason, believe it or not, that we
got her. To restore her to the condition she should be, although that
will take a while, it will be worth it. Our De Lorean may not be in
Mint, Pristine condition, but we love her just the same, and we
aren't afraid to spend some money fixing her up. I again apologize
for the tone of the last message, as I now would trust P.J. Grady's
with my car any time, any where.
After calling and talking to Rob about the car, his helpful insight
has given us new hope about a car that we were questioning whether we
should even keep. I now feel that with a little TLC and some time,
this De Lorean will be the kind of 'D' I always dreamed of having,
and I feel I can rest assured knowing that when we send her to Rob
for the big stuff, it will be done right.
And I would gladly pass onto any other used car buyer the lesson
learned here: When it comes to buying a used car, no matter the make
or model, make your own opinions and look before you leap.

Hey everyone,
As I was leaving work yesterday my throttle linkage
cable snapped. I had it taken out and lubricated last
winter due to water freezing in the line. Then, last
summer, the cable snapped and I had it replaced. So
now I'm onto my third cable...
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this
problem. Are there any points where this line has a
tendency to break and if so why? Thanks.

If you are having that much trouble than something is very wrong. It
is rare for a cable to break. It is even rarer for a replaced cable to
break. There must be something out of whack on your particular car. If
it is breaking at an end maybe a bracket is bent so there is an
excessive angle or flexing that is causing this problem. Are you
getting the replacement locally? If so maybe it is the wrong type of
cable. Replace with a cable from one of the Delorean venders so you
are sure it is the correct part.

Thanks for everyones advice. As it turned out, it was fuse number
7 that was causing my fuel issue. The funny thing was I checked
both number 1 and 7 when I had no luck starting the car. As it
turns out, the fuse wasn't blown, but there was some deposits
of some sort that prevented it to conduct.
As far as the shifting issue goes I'm going to replace the master
cylinder first. Has anyone found a rebuild kit, or would you
recommend buying a new one. It's doesn't appear Grady's offers
a rebuild kit...
By the way, is the slave cylinder on the passenger side or drivers
side of the transmission?

and needed some TLC for sure.... But the car was in great running
condition according to the owner. He wanted $11000 for the car but
dropped to 10k.. Not sure if it sold....but if it is still for sale you

there, and lastly Ebay. Ebay is a strange bird... My advice is to scour
the ebay list as often as you can and if you see a new DMC up contact
the seller and see what their "off of ebay sale price is" sometimes you
are pleasently surprised and make a deal quick....this is how I obtained

...classifieds search...I normally use it to fine arcade machines in my

Finding one in your LOCAL (within 50 miles) area may be possible but it
is unlikely... Be willing to ship the car to you and you open up a lot
more opportunities to find a nice DMC at a price you will like.
