My car makes a very pronounced and rather unusual sucking sound as its
last warning that we are about to run out of gas. Cavitation in the
fuel pump, I imagine. Could it be that you are either almost out of
gas or else have some problem with your fuel pickup hose?

Y'ALL GET READY--SEDOC IS ON THE MOVE!!!!!!!!
Southeastern DeLorean Owners Club PRESENTS:
THE THIRD BIANNUAL "CRUISE-IN"
SEPTEMBER 20 AND 21, 2003
A flock of gull wing DeLoreans will settle again on beautiful Lake
Lanier for the third biannual "Cruise-In". The Olympic Rowing Venue
will be the gathering place for the two day event.
A super show is planned for fun, friendship, technical information,
premium awards, superb dinning, parts fair and cruising Road Atlanta.
The two day event begins with a gathering of DeLorean owners to hear
technical presentations by suppliers and manufacturers of DeLorean
parts.
Our presenters are the principle suppliers to the world of DeLoreans.
Their presentations will focus on "What's New and Updates". Each
presenter will also provide a display and sale of parts during the
parts fair.
Two specially equipped DeLoreans will be on display including DMC
Houston's Performance Engine and ZILLA Electronic Products.
Saturday afternoon's session begins with a happy choice of an award
winning Southern Barbeque Buffet or the Atlanta Falcon Pizza Feast.
Following lunch there will be the early registration drawing of over
$1,600.00 in premium items for registrations post marked prior to
September 7, 2003. The last drawing will be to determine the lucky
winner of half the cash in the 50/50 pot.
Saturday evening we will be hosted to "Candle Light Dinner On The
Dock" by the Olympic Rowing Club. Lake Lanier is up to capacity this
year, so we will really be on the docks this year. Twenty-four
restaurants will provide the best of menu for three hours of fine
dinning. It will be a dress up casual dinner with your favorite
beverage, friends and a great closing of the first day.
Sunday morning begins with a rally at the Olympic Venue to caravan to
the world class Road Atlanta race track. We will be hosted by the BMW
Club to cruise Road Atlanta between 11:30 and 12:30. Following
several pace car led laps and a photo op, we will remain to watch
their event.

Raising the car on a lift could also allow the trailing arm bolt
bracket to move, if loose at all, improving the ground connection.
That is THE ground for the car so I would definately check it out
and be positive it is a good connection.

Is this a DeLorean fuel filter or one from a cross reference sheet?? I don't
remember which one but one of the cross reference fuel filters leaks at the
top fitting and no amount of tightening will fix it.

Sounds like there is still air in the line. Bleed it again.

Bill and List - I have always been unhappy with the way the DeLorean
clutch slave cylinder bleeding is accomplished - The fluid falls onto
the seam between the engine block and the transmission housing that
creates the possibility of getting fluid onto the clutch itself.
Also, as mentioned in some of these posts, the procedure is a pain, to
say the least. I modified Winged1 to incorporate a gravity-style
self-bleeder that works very well. I have also done the same mod to
two other cars in PNDC, and the owners have had no complaints.
Basically, the bleed screw in the slave cylinder is removed, the hole
is opened up and threaded with a pipe thread. A steel line is
attached to a new fitting that is screwed into the modified hole. The
line is formed down around the bell housing, and terminates at a bleed
screw in a small adapter fitting, down near the right hand CV joint.
All parts are off-the-shelf from NAPA. The new procedure for bleeding
the clutch is to open the new bleed screw that is easily reached from
below, and let the fluid flow into a container until all air is
removed (monitoring the reservoir level of course). When finished,
close bleed screw, cap with a rubber cap, top off fluid, and you're
done. If there is any interest in part numbers and additional
details, I would be happy to supply them.

Stainless braided is great, but solid steel line is just as good an no where near as expensive .

If it's a new sender you can probably trust it. Check the guage itself by placing the appropraite resutance values for full and empty across the sender wires. John Hervey can tell you what the correct resistance values are. I forgot and seem to have misplaced the scrap of paper I wrote them on. His answer is also in the archives. John you out there?

To check your guage, values should be as follows. When empty the sender gives 0 Ohms, and when full it gives 100 Ohms with 90 Ohms being equivalent to the 4/4 mark on the fuel gauge. Connect your sender wires together and turn on the ign. The guage should show empty.

Subject: Looking for a car inspector in Wisconsin
Hello,
Finally, after finishing high school, 3 years of college (so far)
and finding a good engineering co-op, I'm in a position to purchase
my dream car. However, I live in Pennsylvania, and the car I'm
looking to buy is in Wisconsin; particularly, Holmen, Wisconsin.
So, here I am looking for someone who would be willing to inspect
and drive a car (with a manual transmission). Please e-mail me
privately at supermatty(at)psu.edu if you would be willing to do
this. I would certainly be willing to compensate you for your
trouble (or delight, depending how you see it). You will help me
live my dream :)
thanks,
