I don't have much of an aggressive personality, but I'm going to see what

have to say, I did document the car with photos and notes of the condition
compared to the original condition. So we'll see what happens, I did learn

I had the same problem and used a teflon tape and it works perfect.
Don't ask me for a particular type, it's what I fond in my basement...

I've acquired an odd noise!!
Best described as the sound of someone in a distant
room sucking the last dregs of a glass coke (ie
muffled) or the sound of water moving very fast under
pressure through a hose pipe.
Have you got the picture?
Now where's it coming from? Sounds like behind the AC
panel.
Any Ideas? I know its not the Air con as I don't have
any fitted.
I thought it it might be the fuel pick up..

Hey everybody, this is my last post before I go ahead and book the hotel
rooms. I just want to make sure, now that we are closer to the date, that
everyone
is still interested in coming to Gatlinburg, August 9th for the get
together.
We are planning on driving the dragon, but getting there is going to be
the
adventure this time. The road to the dragon was washed out last month, so
there
will be a small detour. Good news is that I was out on the dragon last
week
and it seems to have been repaved since last time. If you are planning on
attending the national Delorean Car Show next year, this will be a great
oppurtunity to get a heads up on the area (and Ken Koncelik says he's
gonna be there
most likely). Just email me directly if you want to book a room. I will
send
rates and information when I hear from you. Hope to see you at the party.

This sounds like a vacuum leak from the AC selector switch. Remember,
that switch
selects both electrical connections and vacuum routes, regardless of
whether you have air
conditioning or not. Change positions of the switch and jiggle it. If
the sound changes
you've found your culprit. But even if the sound doesn't change the
problem could be the
vacuum inlet (actually air outlet) line.
The DML backissues feature many discussions of repairs to this system.

there and done that, and am quite confident I have no
leaks.

My fuel gage is pegged full all the time. I changed the fuel sender
but got the same results. The new sending unit is metal doesn't
appear to have an opening to let fuel in the way the old plastic one
did. Does anyone know how it works?

Be careful in the use of the teflon tape. Do not allow it to cover the
end of the fitting, it could block the flow of fuel. Stay back from
the end at least 1 thread. Do not get any pieces (shards) of the tape
into the fuel system. Do not overtighten the fittings, you could strip
the threads and in a rare case smash the end so that fuel cannot pass
through. There are cases in the past that were posted to the list that
said overtightening caused the fittings to cave in blocking the flow
of fuel. That may have been from the use of an incorrect filter or
maybe overtightening did cause it. In any case be very certain there
are NO leaks. The fuel is under a lot of pressure at that point and
even a minor leak will be dangerous. As fuel leaks get smaller
(especially when the fuel is under a lot of pressure) you won't even
see them, the fuel vaporizes as it escapes. The only hint will be the
smell. If it should ignite then it will become a miniature blow torch.
Without trying to scare you the fuel system can be a dangerous system
to work on if you do not take the proper precautions.

Noises are probably the hardest thing to help diagnose without
actually hearing them and being with the car. It could be a vacuum
leak, a leaking mode switch (again vacuum leak) or maybe you have air
in the cooling system and what you hear is the air going through the
heater core. Make sure that you have all the air bled out of the
cooling system and check all the vacuum hoses to see if any have been
knocked loose.

Disconnect and cap 3/8" vacuum line from passenger intake rail and see
if noise stops. That is vacuum line to front of car, which includes
power brake assist (be aware before driving car). If noise is vacuum
leak, will need to isolate further between HVAC mode switch or brake
booster. Is also a hard plastic line running from mode switch back to
heater core shut off valve that could be leaking.

Sorry I intended to post this before it aired but I forgot. They were
pretty excited to include the D after the segment in my machine shop
and I *hoped* it wouldn't get cut from the final edit. And yes, Gary
