There is a mailing list established for those of us with the same problem (ltd_edition@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) ... unfortunately many have been duped by Lee!
Ken Montgomery (kenm(AT)csus.edu) in USA has been giving us tremenduous help by pushing Lee Seiler to get this rediculous 3 year+ mess resolved.
Do you have a reference or kit number given to you by Lee Seiler ... forward this to Ken?
Can anyone in the USA advise us 'foreigners' if there is such a thing as a "Small Claims Court" in USA to sue Lee Seiler to refund our $$$. The whole situation is rediculous and our emails are simply ignored by him ... not something I expected in the DeLorean community. The whole situation makes me real MAD!

From your description it seems like there is a loose / intermittent wire
somewhere. Perhaps in the area of the torsion bar. You need to get back to
the basics and check the continuity of all the wires used in the lock circuit
with the doors opened and closed.

Hey guys. I think it is great to have more power from a D. Anyway, I wonder how much a chevy or ford v-8 or other engines higher weight will change or hurt weight distribution and handling. If you put a heavier engine behind the wheels it will just make the 65/35 distribution more extreme. This is the biggest factor stopping me from thinking of doing a swap. What do you all think?

working on many many PRVs (including his own Renault 30 - identical
gearbox), was told that he had never seen this failure. This runs through low
powered R25's and 30s right up to the 400+hp Alpine A610's.

Since the problem of twisted input shafts, and loose nuts drilling the case
seems to be related only to the DeLorean application of the UN1 Transaxle
thus far, is it possible that the model # for the individual transaxles is not only
representative of the gear ratios themselves, but of the grade/quality of the
internal parts used? Since the application was intended for the DeLorean,
perhaps Renault skimped on the quality since the cars were only going to
handle 130 bhp anyways? Or maybe it's a simular parts/engineering quality
issue such as the B27F motor vs the B28F?
Many people across the pond who are using the UN1 for various custom
applications don't seem to really have problems with it from what I've seen.
Plus, if I were to ever beef up the motor in my car, I would greatly prefer to
keep the stock tranny, if for nothing else it's shift pattern. The ability to quickly
shift between 1st gear, and Reverse has been a lifesaver when I've gotten
into some jams. Such as making a U-Turn, and then finding out the turn wasn't
tight enough.

I noticed this week that my brights have come loose.
It's like they've popped out from the adjustment bracket. I haven't been
working on that end, only in the back, so it's nothing I've done.
I am just now starting to get the eyebrows, but nothing serious yet. I
should correct that before it worsens, though.
Any ideas on what made the loose headlights?

greetings..
i am having a problem with my car. it seems that the car runs rough until
about 2500rpm. once i hit 2500rpm, the car just comes to life and runs as
it should.
i took the car out of winter storage about 3 weeks ago and i thought that it
was just a situation of some bad gas but i am on my second tank now. it
should be noted that i used a fuel stabilizer before storing the car for the
winter..
if anyone has had the same problem and has a solution or suggestions, pls
pass them along.. thanks..

Warren, You can call me or email me and I can tell you the difference on the
Fan Fix. As far as the dieing at a light there are a couple of things that
can be going on. When the ac cycles it may be drawing the voltage down so
low the car thinks you have turned it off.The other thing is the rise of the
control pulnger in the fuel distributor may be set to lean / low.

Does anybody have a tool to hold the timing chain tension while
changing out the head gaskets that they might be willing to part

Irrespective of mileage, the lower conrol arms should be inspected regularly. The original finish on both upper and lower arms is a simple layer of paint. Needless to say 22 years on this is flaking off on many cars and then the dreaded rust sets in. I've recently repainted the arms on my project car, though in the future I'll be removing the bushes and having them powder coated.
I've seen some control arms absolutely brown from rust on a sub 10k car and a mere few patches on a 150k+ car. I guess it depends more on where the car has lived

With all this talk about engine swaps, I would like to mention that we are
looking at possibly performing other 4.3 engine swaps on DeLoeran's. If
anyone is interested, please feel free to contact me. We should be able to
do a complete swap with a 2 month turn around time. We've been toying with
the idea ever since my swap was complete but wanted to make sure EVERYTHING
was successful in my swap. I've been driving my D with the Vortec 4.3 in it
for over 2 years now with no major problems. The cost would be under $8,000
usd. If anyone would like more details feel free to email me.

The Pearce Design Stainless Lower Control Arm may be the best
"bang for the buck" when new lower control arm(s) are needed.
As all our Deloreans continue to accumulate years and mileage,
it is important to note there are improvements that are still
being made for the Delorean by a number of Delorean vendors,
especially in the area of durability and longevity.
One vendor in particular highlights durability and longevity
in all their products. This is Pearce Design Components.
I have been lucky enough to have worked on several projects
with Bryan and Reg Pearce, and I can tell you without a doubt
that all the PDC components, built from stainless, brass and
other durable materials have been designed for preserving the
functionality of our Deloreans for years to come. Keep this
in mind as you make decisions about your Delorean repairs.
Gus brings up some a good point about his "other side" LCA.
There are some things that are better replaced in pairs and
if you need to replace an LCA due to age (rust deterioration)
then you should replace the other side as well. If an LCA
failure is contributed to an impact or collision, than single
replacement is acceptable, but it is still rust susceptable.
Keep in mind, if you have one or both LCA's repaired and heat
treated, this is a significant cost. If you replace them with
good used LCA's (a somewhat rare OEM part to find), there is a
significant cost involved (as much as $500 each). With both of
these cases, the LCA's will be subject to rust deterioration as
were your original LCA's.
This is where the PDC LCA's (at $425 each) start looking really
good. Buy a pair and never worry about LCA rust deterioration
again. If you only need one and have one good OEM LCA, buy a
a pair of PDC LCA's and sell your good one to cut your costs in
half. This process may eventually flood the market with spare
OEM LCA's and actually bring OEM LCA prices back down.
And make sure to check the the Pearce Design Components website
often for new products are released (www.pearce-design.com)
There is another new product scheduled for release this month
and it will really compliment the SS front lower control arms.
Whenever possible, don't just fix your Delorean to just get by
for now, Fix it for the Future. Fix it with Stainless Steel.

Don, I think what I call the clutch shaft #103071 is the part that I have
had broke on two standard transmissions. I have thought about beefing it up
but the problem is then the torque is transfered to something else. To me
it's never ending. I had a call a few weeks ago for a rear transmission
mount. Not to be found. Then the problem just keeps getting transfered
around.

I know this subject has always been a No No for some unknown reason.....and
in my 82 years, the Lee Seiler DeLorean model is one of the smoothest

If the car has the origional ignition wires or even if they were
replaced, if they are over 10 years old they are suspect. I would try
a tune-up including cleaning the fuel injectors and checking for any
vacuum leaks and making sure the vacuum advance and mechanical advance
is working.

Mike, Hot or cold. I could be burning off excess gas, vacuum piviot switch
hasn't transfered the Vacuum yet. Loose,broke,or leaking vacuum hoses.

about 2500rpm. once i hit 2500rpm, the car just comes to life and runs as

i took the car out of winter storage about 3 weeks ago and i thought that it
was just a situation of some bad gas but i am on my second tank now. it
should be noted that i used a fuel stabilizer before storing the car for the
winter..
if anyone has had the same problem and has a solution or suggestions, pls
pass them along.. thanks..

On a significant # of cars that I have seen I have noticed that the
lower control arms are bent. It seems that in many cases when a car is
towed or hauled onto a carrier the operator uses recovery hooks and
places them on the lower control arms. Since they weren't made to be
used in that way they get damaged. On many other imported cars they
have put warning labels on the LCA's to try and keep ham-handed tow
truck operators from damaging undercarriage parts in this manner. This
is one of the great benefits of going to a club meet and having the
car inspected. In many cases it is the first time the car was ever
inspected underneath. Better to find the beginnings of a problem and
deal with it before it becomes catastophic. In this case I wonder if
the failures of the LCA's is related to damage caused by towing. For
the future try to make sure if the car is ever recovered that the tow
operator uses the hooks on the frame and not the lower control arms to
pull the car.
