There were actually two "Coyotes", one from the first season, and one
from the second and third seasons. The original Coyote was a modified
Manta Mirage kit car, with a Volkswagen chassis and a Porsche 914
engine. The second version was a similar body on a Delorean frame.
Don't know whether t used the fiberglas Delorean chassis as well.

Ok, now here's a baffler.
Got a pair of seats that I'm going to recover. First off, I'll never say
that the D seats were ever half-assed built, because of two words. Hog
rings. Damn there are a lot of them there!! Ok, so, got main back of the
seats pulled and the foam exposed. Problem is when you get to the
headrest. (I'm sure some of you already know where I am going with
this.) ok, so that little notch of leather between the main seat and the
headrest is a nice addition, but is a pain to work around. Two sets of
hog rings holding that together. Ok, so I dealt with that and now here
is the problem. How do I get the covers off the headrest without
damaging the foam? And worse yet, how do I get new covers back on and
the hog rings into spaces to re-establish that "notch" ?
Am I in for any other surprises? It makes me wonder how they covered
these things in the first place.

Jim Varneys car was dismantled (inter only) but was not used as a parts car.
It was sold to the KY owner and has been put back on the raod. I'll let the
KY owner pick up the story from there. By the way it was never painted and
did have the 81 hood, lines no flap.
To add one more "star delorean" Lou Gossett Jr. bought one a few years ago
and had Delorean One fix it up. The car came from TN. I know because I helped
the broker find it for him.

The Johnny Carson car was next to me in Cincinatti at Ken's show in
1998. The owner had a lot of documentation on the car. J C really
never owned it, it was taken back as I recall by DMC when the company
was in bankrupcy. This was the car that died on Johnny on the drive
home from the dealer the day he picked it up. The ducey alternator
just couldn't keep up. That car was entered in the councours and it
didn't even place. Although it was nice it wasn't cleaned up so it
didn't present very well. J C was a large invester in DMC and I guess
they though that lending him a car was going to generate a lot of
publicity and they were right, just not the kind they were looking for!

Many celebrities have owned Deloreans at one time or another. You have
to keep in mind many of them change cars like us ordinary people
change shoes. Mnay celebrities don't keep cars very long. Just look at
the auctions, if a celebrity ever owned the car right away they think

You need to order a relay upgrade kit. Included in the kit are 2 new
circuit breakers, one for the heater fan and one for the radiator fans.

Michael, This a sign of the blower motor going out and it's drawing more
current. If you up the circuit breaker amperage to 40+ amps you will adding
to the problem of over heating. Replace the blower motor and use the proper
circuit breaker, I wouldn't go to a higher amperage. Over heating will melt
wires and turn them brittle.

Scott, I have repaired several RPM relay's and most of the time the relay
just comes loose from the PC board or the relay coil burns out because it's
own as long as the car is running. I have yet had to replace the 555 chip.
The other problem is the contacts burn and need cleaning and re adjusting.
Now that I have new ones in stock at a low price I haven't fixed many in the
last year.

Rich, If you have dropped a tranny before then it can be done in 3 to 4
hours. Then it has to go back and hope nothing happens while doing it. You
make want to have a set of engine mounts on hand if they break. I noticed
you saying oil/coolant. Hope there isn't any coolant coming out of the rear
main seal. If there was or is you have more problems. It's also a good time
to look at the clutch while you have it down.

I'm still struggling to make a plan of attack for my blown head
gasket and oil/coolant leak. I had decided on a total engine rebuild,
but I have been advised that it's just un-necessary by the good folks
in Houston.
After crawling under my car, I've pretty much confirmed that the
crank seal is the source of a large oil/coolant leak (I know, you're
saying that if that was the problem, there wouldn't be coolant in
it). I believe I have a combination of problems.
Warren has advised me to just drop the tranny in my driveway and
replace the seal.

Dave, First you can't fix the brushes, they have to be replaced. The inside
has to cleaned out and the bearings have to be replaced and re greased. I
charge $75.00 + freight to recondition them.

Subject: Engine Swaps and tranny questions
I've been cruising around DeLorean sites the last few days checking out various engine swaps people have done. What I'm looking at specifically is what transmissions people use when they do these large swaps. I've seen where both Bob Brandys Land Rover v8 D, and Jim Strickland's Mazda 3 rotor D both use porsche transmissions. On the other hand Rich W.'s Turbo Buick uses a stock D tranny with a custom bellhousing. There's a couple of swaps I saw on Tamir's site that I'm curious as to what trannies they used- the Chevy 350 powered D which was at the Memphis show, and the Ford v8 powered D at the Cleveland show. If there's anyone else out there on the list, or knows of someone who's done an engine swap, I'd really like to hear how you got around the limitations of the stock D transmission.

I can't answer the first question because the answer to the second question is yes. You have to remove the radiator cowling from the radiator, and that's a lot easier by taking the rad itself out, though on my project car I wasn't worried about taking the condenser off... I haven't disassembled my fan motors because they work fine.
Why do you want to take th emotors apart? Are they not working?

It is fairly easy to mate a stock Delorean 5 speed to any engine. that
is what is done in most cases.
THe stock 5 speed is good to about 300 HP. As for different
automatics, the Porsche trans is the only one I know of that is RWD and
Rear engine.
