Hello Delorean friends,
I wanted to help one with a wiring diagram and made a mistake by sending the
email back to the DML.
Of course I want to help people, but there are so many people asking for the
wiring diagram that I think if everybody of you would make a donation to the
MJ FOX Parkinson's Research Foundation, this would help a lot.

Well, I got it! (Lots of snow here in Norway, so I need it)
The auction ended with a whopping $237,- but well worth it.
The guy who sold it, once was a DMC District Manager who bought out 3
DeLorean dealerships (!) worth of parts when DMC closed. He saw the
potential of the parts.
He has lots of rare stuff, if anyone is interested in anything, e-
mail me privately your wishlist, and I'll pass it on to him. I won't
post his e-mail addy here and perhaps he likes to keep a low
profile...
The parts bonanza have been stored since the early 80s, and more and
more parts will be auctioned off since they now can fetch good prices
(my rare ski rack being one example!)

After seeing the auction, I went back through the records we have from the
original DMC, which happen to include the original Purchase Orders from the
original supplier of both the luggage racks and ski rack adapters.
There were two purchase orders for 100 each of ski rack adapters, and only
150 are shown to have been received as of 12/2/81. We have maybe one or two
here at the warehouse that are not for sale at this time.
There was one purchase order for 1000 luggage racks, and only 849 were
received as of 12/2/81. There are less than 10% of that number left.
It's possible that more may have been received after that time, though given
the finances of the company after that time, I would say it's unlikely.

I've always thought that a good DeLorean accessory would be a ski rack or
snowboard rack that attaches to the T panel. The skis/snowboard would lay
on the roof, running the same direction as the car. The doors would still
be able to open.
Is the T panel strong enough to hold something like this. Has anything
along these lines ever been made?

You'd be surprised just how many items, let alone cheap buys you'll
find on eBay that are listed, but most people don't find them. I've
seen original radios, and even that little plastic grill that covers
the torsion bars above the rear window for $20. While bargains like
these don't come along on a regular basis (due to both item
availability and misspellings), they do indeed occur. Here are the
most common variations of the word "DeLorean" that will yield the
most hits for auctions on eBay:
Delorean
De lorean
Delorian
Deloreon
These four are the most common variations of the word that you'll
find online both for auctions, surfing the internet, or even
researching the subject at the library. None of them are case
sensative (unless you were searching a UNIX based card catalogue I
suppose), but the can include even more sub variations with
additional spaces and so on. Very rare and seldom useful, you may
also run across horrible misspellings such as "Delorion", etc. from
time to time.

Autoworldaccessories.com. They arrived this morning. What I received was

set of covers for a Chevy Cavallier. I called the company in CA and they
said there was a "glitch" on their website and that they never had
covers
for the Delorean even though the site allows you to order them. I
checked
with Lund and GTS directly and they informed me that what remaining

I don't often listen to what sellers write in car ads especially when
it comes to the Delorean and moreso when its on ebay. But a car thats
up for auction now has a great little quote regarding the
desirability of our great car:
"The editor for Sports Car Market Magazine says "Time to reconsider

childhood daydreams for a generation just about to turn 30, thanks to

I have recently purchased "Oscar", and am going to have him shipped
out to Boise ID within the next few weeks. Some other car thought it
would be nice to get cozy with Oscar's rear end and thus Oscar sadly
became a parts car. Not to worry, in steps Ulysses to save Oscar!
Ulysses has a drive(more like an obsession) to own a Delorean unlike
anyone has ever seen. I (I mean Ulyses) will not be denied his dream!
Now down to business. Oscar has what looks like the lower half of the
engine left. And the gentleman that presently has him has told me that
it's most likely not worth rebuilding what is left of the engine. I
tend to belive him because he works on Deloreans on a regular basis. I
have decided to put a volvo V6 back in the car. Now for the ultimate
question.....What is going to be the best, most cost effective engine
to put back into Oscar?!! I would like to be able to simply bolt up
the engine just as the original one. I would also like to take
advantage of an engine that has come out of a wrecked Volvo so the
cost would not be as high as a brand new engine. I'm not concerned
with the transplanted engine being used. I would simply like a stock
volvo V6 dropped into the car and wired up so that I could
conceivably drive my new car sometime within the confines of THIS YEAR!!!
I understand that there are probably messages somewhere in the DMC
groups, but I can't find them. So could all of you who would know what
I need please help me. Please help me get Oscar back on the road.

I actually fell in love with DeLoreans 1981 -- four years before the
movie. Spent many longing hours at a local Chrysler dealership (also
DMC dealer). Would argue BTTF made vehicle into general public's dream
car, not necessarily (older in age) owners.
That said, charitable contributions are down across the board, at the
very time demands on them are going up (and government funding going
down). Would be a good idea to dig a little deeper and support any, MJ
Fox or other.

You can make your own.
Find a plastics distributor in your area. Take a template and they can cut
them out for you. If you use clear plastic, you can paint the back side any
color you want. Attach them with velcro.

Well, first I wanna say HELLO to all ya! ^_^
Second, I may be buying a "D" soon.....it's a '83........not that bad
of shape........but the driver window won't roll down.........and the
passenger window works, but it goes up crooked.....so there is about
half an inch to ~half a centemeter of space that is still not covered
when it's fully up. I went to DeLorean One's site, so I have an
idea what I'd need........but I would like the Group's opinion! ^_^
Oh, guess I should say this, I like the "D"......no I LOVE the "D",
because 1) I LOVE BTTF.....esp the original.......I watched that
movie MANY times ^^ ; 2) It's DIFFERENT! ^_^ and 3).......heck, it
is just plain cool!! ^_^

See message #30802. Don't overlook potential Renault or Peugeot
sources either (anybody know specific models?). Mine is Renault,
presumably purchased on this side of pond. Bolted up to original
transmission OK.
Was leery of PRV before I took the plunge. Still find it a somewhat
confused piece of hardware, but overall am glad I have something
resembling the factory block there. Really is not as slow as rumored.
Produces a unique sound almost integral to the DeLorean experience
(tell me that comment isn't going to generate yet another
controversy). Parts supply is no problem (AMC 360 or Ford 351 would be
cheaper though...). Of course you have resources like DML and D
vendors for assistance.
If you can salvage a working idle speed motor, I'd recommend
transplanting on your new block WITH ATTENDANT THROTTLE SWITCH. I idle
off the bypass screw which works fine, but is a tad fussy first thing
on a 28 degree morning.

The most cost effective solution would be to find a used Delorean
engine. Converting any other variation of the PRV-6 will take a lot
longer and cost more because there are a lot of subtle differences
between the way the PRV-6 is set-up in the Delorean and all of the
other applications. The selling owner is probably correct that it
isn't practical to rebuild what is left unless you can find all of the
pieces. By having to buy all of the missing parts bit by bit it would
be more expensive then jusy getting a whole engine. Try Darryl
Tinnerset, he said he had some engines. Also try backintyme (Bob
Miller). Of course you could price Delorean Housten (you might
even consider their upgraded engine). Changing to a different engine
(other then the PRV) will bring up all kinds of other problems,
certainly not a "bolt in" kind of a plan. You might recoup some of the
expense of the "new" engine by selling what you remove from the car,
it has some value if it isn't too "hacked up" and wasn't overheated.

The passenger window sounds like it is off the track(s). You will
have to remove the black leather interior covering of the door to get
to it. It is a pain, but not to dificult really. I got mine back on
track using flat head screwdriver, just becareful not to break the
plastic the guide that goes on the track.
There is info on the dmc-news tech area about taking the door apart.

I know our D's were manufactured in Dunmurray, Northern Ireland.
Have any other cars come from Ireland or are our cars unique in that
aspect as well?
