Subject: Rear pivot bolts

I was crawling around under my car yesterday and noticed tham my rear
pivot bolts have a gap betwen where the shock absorber mounts, and
the nut that holds them in place. Is it okay to just tighten this up?
Will I need to lift the rear end of the car? Its very dirty there
also, should I clean it off first? What should I clean it with?

Also, my overflow bottle sometiimes ejects coolant. And some of it
got on the frame under the bottle. I wiped it up, but there is likely
a residue. What is the best way to completely clean this so that the
frame and frame coating are not damaged by the antifreeze, or the
cleaning?

Thanks. Adam

I agree... There is a wealth of info in there. And we need a better way to

get to it...

Subject: Looking high and low for Part #105721 Upper Screen

Greetings all,

My experiences these past two weeks since bringing VIN 961 home have
been great... getting to know the car, tweak it, check it, nurse it
back to full running condition. My projects have started to become
more cosmetic and I need some help.

My roof T-panel on the driver's side has been getting worked up just
by road vibration, etc. Not thinking this was normal and after
disassembling a couple parts my plastic Upper screen is broken where
the left T-panel tab connects. I pose this question... does anyone
have one they would be willing to sell and for how much? After
starting to check the dealers this part is unavailable. Anyone have a
parts car with one still? (Part #105721 Upper Screen)

Anyone can email me privately at argentum(at)hit.net

Thanks!

Subject: Cinderella DeLorean

The coolest car at my son's senior prom tonight was our '82 DeLorean. Not
a
great cockpit for a frou-frou prom dress, but just fine- James Bondian
even-
for a tall handsome guy in a tux! Like Cinderella Living the Dream,
Richard's dream had an expiration date too. I picked up the D after his
grand
arrival and swapped it with our family car for the return trip rather than

have him barrelling down our deer infested country roads late at night.
(Let
me hit 'em, if need be!) My daughter thought we were playing a trick on
him
but he knew that was the plan. Still, my wife and I had to chuckle at the

thought of Richard coming out to find the DeLorean had magically turned
into
a pumpkin... or at least, the Mom Bomb! ;-)

I'd like to replace my twenty year old butt-ugly fuel hoses. Has anybody
used
custom made braided hose? Not that cheap coverup stuff, I mean actual
hose. I've saw some in a sales book I picked up at Eurofest, but before I

drop a line to a place in the UK I'd rather know if anyone has actually
done
such a replacement. Any ideas?

Subject: RE: Exhausts

List.

Following discussions between Martin Gutkowowski and a specialist exhaust
manufacturer in Nottingham, England. I drove my "Delores" up to their
factory on Thursday. We put my car on the lift and it was given a good
inspection. I discussed options with them and looked at some of the fancy
Ferrari systems being made ( cost about £3,000) !

Whilst I was there, they showed me a set of water pipes, also made out of
staginess for a Ferrari. They looked very similar to our DeLorean ones.
they
would be quite happy to quote for them.

I envisage ( although it could all be altered) A silencer looking similar
to
the current one, mounted on the same brackets. Fed by two new s/s exhaust
manifolds, facing the back of the car, going into the silencer at each
end,
with the outlet pipes for the silencer and exhaust tips looking standard.
( large angle cut tips). The Cat would be done away with, as would the
cross
over exhaust pipe that currently goes over the "Inboard" end of the
engine.
This would have the advantage of vastly improving the exhaust gas flow. It
also has the added benefit of not heating up all the rubber fuel pipes!

The whole system would be in polished stainless steel. We can individually
choose our own preferred choice of "loudness" , personally I am going for
a
loud one as its for my BTTF one.

They will need a car for about 2 weeks, to strip off the old system and
make
the new master system, with all its patterns.

They are very busy and can't fit me in till July 22nd. I will be taking my
new BTTF LHD Auto in.

They tell me that it needs a minimum order of batches of about 5 systems
to
make it cost effective.
I will have two, Martin is having another....any other volunteers?

The cost will be about £800 each ( 800 pounds) plus shipping.

My son-in -law , who tunes engines for a living, tells we that "Gas
flowing"
the cylinder heads and sorting out the exhaust system, will have a
dramatic
effect on the performance.

This post is primarily aimed at UK members, but if any of USA boys want
one
we would be looking at about $1200 will shipping.( contact me direct
chrisparnham@xxxxxxxxxxxx )

As a matter of interest, the "Don Lander" personal RHD car, in the
"Patrick
Collection", reg number, originally, AXI 1697, now SOA 82Y, vin number
5565,
has a similar system, very crudely done, see DOC UK website for photo's
next
week.

Subject: Re: Does one seal one's tires?

i just had this problem on my last mustang. the rims do oxidize and
deteriorate and this
causes the rim to leak where the tire touches the rim. they put a sealant
around the
bead of the rim and the tires have held air for years with no problems.
you would be
surprised how many older style rims this treatment has been done to. i
have done this
myself when i used to work at a goodyear dealership.

Subject: VERY HIGH Idle

Hi,
I'm in a hurry because I'm off to work now but drop me an email if you

can help. Today I replaced every vacuum O-ring on my car. When I
reassembled the car it would idle around 1200 RPMS. I checked the
butterflys
and they were opening and not sticking at all. The car will idle fine if
the
microswitch is depressed but even if the throttle is barely touched so it
will let up on the switch the car will race up to near 5,000
RPMS(butterflys
closed). Did I switch up a vacuum line or something? Please let me know.

Thank you

David
