If you are lucky the cable broke right at the bonnet release lever
under the dash. In this case a vise-grip on what's left will open the
bonnet. If you are unlucky then there are two possibilties. If you
have a fuel flap you can stick a wire in and try to catch the latch
that way. If you don't have a fuel flap then you better hope the trunk
is empty because you have to pop the large rubber grommet by the brake
master cylinder, push aside the carpet and start fishing with a wire
for the latch. Of course you will have to raise the car onto
jackstands to do it this way. Take your time and be very patient as it
is very frustrating to do as you generaly do not succeed on your first
several attempts. I do not feel I am giving any great secrets away
about breaking into a Delorean as it is not easy or quick to do this.
After getting the bonnet open and fixing the wire install the back-up
cable so when it happens again at least you can open it easily. Same
goes for the engine cover as far as a back-up cable although it
doesn't seem to break as often.

it for $8,000.00 off list. List was $29,995.00. He sold it to me 5 years ago
about, for $15,000.00. Mint condition. But he lost money. He was waiting for

There is a general view in the Electrical Manual, Section 3
Subsection 1,that gives a basic view on how it goes on over the
battery.
FYI While you are in there, get one of those tin cooking pans,(get
the one with a somewhat decent depth)that you can pick up at any
Discount store(about a buck or two) and one of those thin spongy
things,and set the battery into that, THEN strap down the
battery,this is to prevent the dreaded carpet/acid
burning/staining,that can happen if the battery overcharges,the
spongy thing is to absorbe any fluid leaks from the battery.

Hello List -
I wanted to get a quick gauge of interest in a bolt-on modification
that would triangulate the attachment of the front suspension lower
control arms. I know that some people have talked about a complete
replacement of the lower control arm with some other configuration,
and I think that there is merit to some of the ideas. However, I
think that other people want to preserve the basic design, and simply
add stabilization capability to it. For those of you who don't know,
the arm is located fore/aft and held in place by the front sway bar
attachment. This design allows some movement of the suspension under
load, which can degrade handling. I have designed a simple bolt-on
arrangement that I believe will add a great deal of stability to the
existing arrangement, and I am working with a manufacturer to get an
initial set of parts to install on my car for testing. If the design
works out as I expect, and the cost can be kept to a minimum (I don't
know what the figures would be yet) does anybody have an interest in
this? The engineering people at the company would like to find out
what the potential market could be, for pricing and availability
purposes. I know that the information is very sketchy right now. My
goal is to install the parts, and take some photo's to post on the
list. As always - feedback is appreciated.

on that)But who was THE first John Q. Public that drove off the

Kenneth and group, If you want to save some money and not pay for the name.
Goo Gone and products like that are Naptha or cigarett lighter fluid. We use
it by the gallon to remove stickers on the back of a book. Just wet it down
wait a few seconds and peel it off.

I know as fact that when DMC went belly-up Consolidated International
of Columbus Ohio,took over,as they had the option of keeping the
plant running,in fact they finished all the cars that were on the
assembly line and got ALL remaining Deloreans including all parts,and
Rights to THE Delorean and it's namesake,so as far as I can tell
Consolidated International STILL has all rights to the
Delorean,Logos,likeness ect,as John Z. Delorean,lost all rights to
THE ORIGNAL logos,in the Bankruptcy,there might still be the British
Government,that might still have legal Rights to the Delorean
logos/likeness(but the chances are they will never pursue any rights)
I DO NOT think that ANY rights were transferred to DMC of Texas
(James??)They bought out the contents of the warehouse of Delorean
Stuff(crates),Much in the same fashion as someone bought out the
remaining Bricklin parts that Consolidated acquired,WHEN they had THE
option of keeping the Bricklin factory going.FYI,They also finished
off the remaining Bricklins on that assembly line,(they also acquired
all or most of the remaining Bricklins)and they might also have the
legal rights to the Bricklin Logo/trademark (Consolidated).Best Bet
is to call up Consolidated and find out.

I think I know what you intend to do:
1.) put in a longer bolt at the frame mounting of the lower control arm
2.) the bolt goes through two additional sleeves: on in front of the shock
tower and one behind.
3.) a rigid connection from the sleeves to the lower shock mounting bolt.
This surely gives much more stability, but it also increases the stress on
the frame at that shock tower area.
I am a little unsure if the frame can safely handle the increased stress
involved at that point. Don't you think there was a reason why they used
only on single pivot point in conjunction with the sway bar?
You see, I am a little sceptical, but I am anxious to see the result. Plese
post photos as soon as they are available!

The hardest part one will have in obtaining will be the Mr. Fusion, a.k.a. a
Krups Coffee Grinder. The grinder alone goes for a few hundred dollars on
eBay.
Hopefully with time and patience, BTTF.com may have a section containing
blueprints and diagrams of the BTTF DMC-12.
