I'm 6' but most of that is my legs (not completely proportional) and a
Delorean I sat in had alot of room in it. I dont even recall actually
having to move the seat back any. You figure John Delorean is about 6'
3" from what I've read so I imagine he fits comfortably in it.

I recently got a new radiator cap and installed it. It is rated at 16
lbs, and I am curious if this could cause any sort of problems. The
previous owner had a 14 lbs radiator cap.
Also, can anyone recommend a good gas cap? I don't need a locking cap
since I have an '83 hood. I think the cap is worn out and not keeping
pressure, it never gives the pressure release when the cap is
removed, and the rubber seal is is cruddy.
thanks,
Adam

Andy, The cap may cause no problem, but the car came with a specific type of
15lb cap. They are own the web site.

I've been thinking about doing this too and am
curious on how you did it on your car...
Put them under Photo's or Files at Yahoo,
that way I'm not the only one that can see them.

Adam,
A properly rated and funtioning radiator cap is critical to the function of an
automotive cooling system. If the pressure rating is too low, the water/coolant mix
will boil at a lower temperature and the engine will heat. A higher pressure cap will
let the coolant reach a higher temperature without boiling, but if this is over the
design specs it may cause leaks or sudden failure (i.e., a burst hose). The correct
coolant bottle cap (14 PSI, I believe) from your Favorite Delorean Vendor is about 5
dollars.
As for gas caps, I recommend the delorean.com replacement. It is a perfect look and
fit. Ten bucks.

Adam,
It's best to use the correct radiator cap, which is a 15 pound cap. Both
that and the gas cap are available from the DMC vendors for reasonable prices.
Houston prices (www.delorean.com):
101977 radiator cap 4.95
110129 gas cap 9.98
above is per their web site. PJ Grady's prices are similar per their web
site at www.pjgrady.com
In the case of the radiator cap you can get them easily enough from local
places if that's what you really want to do. The cap is an AC part no. RC15
available from any Chevy dealer. It was used on '68-'72 corvettes as well
as on a lot of other 60's through 80's V-8 models from Chevy. I bought a
Stant replacement cap a while back when I need one in a hurry from Pep
Boys. Just look up the above 'vette and you'll get the correct 15 lb cap. I
don't have a cross ref on the gas cap and would recomment getting it from
Grady, Houston or one of the other vendors. I think the DMC dealer prices
are actually less than I paid at Pep Boys for the radiator cap, but I
needed one that day.

Hasan,
Well, to get you look at some different cars and conditions if I
were you I would go to e-Bay and start exploring. Who knows you
might find the car of your dreams few miles away from where you
live. Most of us here check ebay very regularly for deals on parts
etc. Just a food for thought.

List,
just an FYI -
i believe the escutcheon (that flimsy door trim piece that goes around the
door handle, lock switch, and mirror controls) has been unavailable for quite
a while. i seem to remember asking about it when i was at DMCH this summer
and they said they didn't have it. well, they DO have it now! i'm not sure
if it's OEM or reproduced but it only cost about $13 from DMC Houston last
week and i got it today. pretty fair price i think (compared to other
similar parts).
just to let everyone know - since i know these things always crack and break
tabs.

Tom / List.
Here in the UK these third lights are often stuck on the inside of the rear
window. I have done this in my RHD DeLorean and if you line it up
carefully, if shows from the outside only when lit.
Mind you, you have to careful when stowing your bag of golf clubs behind
the seats otherwise you can knock it off!

Tom:
Just get two sets (for the left and right side) that fits between the
louver's opening. You can flip and mount them up side down with double stick
tape (that come with it) underneath the louvers. You can also add a very
thin bead of silicone glue around the perimeter before you press them into
place. This will help to seal up the edges from allowing water to capillary
between the units and the louvers while adding extra strength to secure the
unit to the louvers. And do clean/scrap off the excess oozed silicone glue.
I have two sets of LED units that are about 16" long which were mount about
five years ago and they are BRIGHT and they do not interfere with my back
view at all. They do look "right" and are not obtrusive or gaudy. I can
send you pics just, forward me your email address.

To own a Delorean is not just a dream come true, but
also a commitment. You are not just buying a car, but
something else. Something with (almost) a living

for it and never, never take it for granted.
Are you ready?
