Is #4426 concours? If not, why rebuild the engine to factory spec? I'd
think you'd be happier with higher compression and/or a more
aggressive cam.
I'm beginning to suspect my Volvo re-engine may be a bit more
pedestrian than JZD's. Does your PRV man have any references to ID
just what I've got behind me?
FWIW: great success so far idling off the upper air assembly bypass
screws (no hunting there). May be cantankerous this winter until
warmed up -- we'll see.

Subject: Delorean For Sale
I lost the E-mail address of someone who was interested in a Delorean
for sale. If he or anyone else is interested it is an 82, grey,
5-speed. 35,000 miles always garaged so no sun damage or frame rot. It
does need a lot though. A short list includes struts all around,
headliners, seats, brakes, a lot of cleaning inside and out, a few
minor dings, cracked sunshade, horn, windshield (it got cracked when
something fell on it in the garage). It just got new clutch cylinders
but not the clutch line. It needs a tune-up and probably a water pump
and hoses. It is going to go for about $8,500. The owner is geting a
new title to replace the lost one so it can't be bought for about 2
weeks when he gets the replacement. Contact me off-list if anyone is
interested. The car is located about 30 minutes north of the George
Washington Bridge in New York. This is the second owner having bought
it in 85 in Texas with 3,000 miles. It has been sitting for the past
7+ years but the motor does start up and it seems to have all of it's
gears but I wouldn't trust the brakes. Figure after buying it will
need at least $2,000 in parts alone right away but it can be cleaned
up and be very nice. It has all of the late 82 features like a flat
hood with emblem, flared tailpipes, and power antennae.

Thanks Kevin for the compliments. Hopefully I will see you at Daves
house the next time you come down. I coudnt make it last time. As the
interior. What I did was dissasemble the entire interior of my car.
When i got my car it was severely sun damaged. IT was all faded and
burnt and looked like crap. If you notice most interiors on deloreans
have faded intereriors. Even ones that werent in the sun all that
long. Take a look at the different panels in the interior such as the
color of the binnacle and the dash for example. You can see the
difference in the gray colors. MOst of the time the gray turns
brownish over time. In almost every delorean I have seen with grady
interiors the grady parts of the interior dont match each other. Now
for what I did. I took every panel out of my interior. The kneepads
the ccenter console, the glove compartment, seats, carpets, dash,
binaccle, rear armrest pads etc. There was nothing left in my car
excpet of bunch of wires.(it was scary) After everything was out I
had time to inspect the panels and compared the colors of gray in
all. Everyone was a different color gray. Reason is because different
types of vinyl were used on the panels and they fade differntly over
time. It was hard to get a color match of the gray. Now for the dye.
I went seaching the archives for somone else who dyed a part in their
car. I noticed one guy who said that Plasti-kote 408 was a spot on
match and that Plasti-kote not like other dyes will not chip or peel
or crack. I didnt believe it so i went and bought a can and dyed one
piece. It looked great and the gray matched exactly to orginal gray
of teh binnacle when you order a new one from DMC houston. THe next
test was to see if it cracked or peeled. I waited a day even though
it dries in 10 mins. I tried scratching and peeling it it it woudnt
come off. Its great stuff. The key is to CLEAN the vinyl with hot
water and detergent and get off any armor-all or crud or oils off of
the panels or the dye wont work. After that spray around 5 LIGHT
coats of dye and wait til it dries. I did that for every part of my
car. It now looks better than new. If anyone wants i can put before
and after pictures up on the web. Let me know if anyones interested.

In the November 29 edition of "Cars By Dealers", there is a 1981
DeLorean for sale at Wenger Pontiac GMC in Quarryville, PA. The ad
says 4,682 mi. and one-owner. The photo shows the wide black trim
stripe on the side and fender mounted radio antenna. The interior
looks grey in the photo. Asking price is $18,950. I will know more
when I go look at it.

Speaking of painted Delorean metal works... I just picked up my Delorean
from Delorean Motor Center, who just finished a major frame restoration and
engine detailing. They replaced my rusted frame with a sandblasted, and
powder coated one, and detailed many engine parts to match the new maroon
frame.

(I also took some pics of a Pearce Automotive stainless frame that is in the
process of being installed... they are posted too!)
Along the way, Delorean Motor Center completely redid the suspension,
replacing all of the bushings, and installing Grady shocks and springs. It's
a whole new car! No more creaks, rattles and bumps, and it handles like a
dream. Overall, they did an excellent job!

This is a subjest that i'm very intrested in. Eveyrtime that i go
to a DeLorean event i see at least a half dozen cars start up, and
do the idle hunt described. Being that i had/ have a low mileage
car (7k when i got it, 10 k now) i never ever had a hunting
problem. I currently run a porshe cis system on my car, but it
mimics the the orgional almost to a tee with some exceptions. The
one reason why i belive (belive being the key word, not experience
just based off all the knowledge i learned during the switch) has to
to largely with vacumm leaks, bad or dirty O2 sensors and
adjustments. I have notcied that a large majority of cars that had
water pumps replaced properly, did not have a a hunting problem.
The oring seals that mate with the manifold shrink over time and
could become a potential vacumm leak, also upon re assemble of the
engine all the fuel meter or rings become replaced as well (if done
correcty. My car when i first bought it was a low mileage garged
vehicle, but i found small cracks in my vacumn lines all of which i
replaced. I stress alot of vacumn problem, but there is a really
good reason to. If you have a small leak, if/when you adjust your
idle it would be off a good amount. Also vacumn is nessary to run
the warm up regulator, and a certain amount of vacumn is nessary to
open the delay side (i believe). All of this has influences on the
idle and fuel fixtures. These are just some things i have notcied
in the past, wether you belive them or not.

John DeLorean to sign for me. Under it was a nice note and his autograph. I
bought a cool chrome frame for it and placed my DeLorean large brochure in
with it. It is now the centerpiece of my DeLorean collection. Needless to
say today I am a happy man!

Hello everyone,
Here is the answer that many of you might appriciate. The other day
I was rolling through e-Bay minding my own business when I stumbled
on a MOMO Hub. The add said, for any vehicle. Well, I bid and I won.
Next day I got a polite e-mail asking me for the vehicle year and
type. In return I wrote: 1981 Delorean. So next day I expected to
see another e-mail asking for more info or my money back or
something but in return the e-mail said: your item has been shipped.
I was kinda surprised, thinking, yeah right, I want to see this one.
I spent about $60 on the brand new hub w/ hardware...anyways,
yesterday I get the box. I opened it, look inside..very nice hub.
Here comes the hard part. I already took the wheel off of the
Delorean soooooo, I put the hub on the shaft and holly sh*t!!!!! It
fits perfectly!
So the nice guy I am here it is, its the part# 2401. The HUB its
self says " K 2401 ". Crowder's Customizing 843-452-9294. They have
a website also with the same name .com.
Hope this will help, I know there were alot of inquiries in
reference to this update, I hope this will help.
