Dave, I use Krylon simi flat and hold the spray pattern back further. That will create the surface with a little texture. John Hervey www.specialTauto.com << Hi, I am going to bring my louver into a body shop to have it painted this week. What type of paint should I have them paint it with? I have to use 5 bottles of tire shine just to keep it black right now;) I have found that most bumper paints just begin to fade after a few seasons of use. Has anyone used a paint that really works great? At Memphis I saw a louver with a lightly textured paint that really looked nice. Thanks Dave 6286- >> ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 00:34:42 EST From: dherv10@xxxxxxx Subject: Re: refabricate tosion bars Andy and group. Last year when this came up I checked with the factory that made them for Grummond. There was one person there that remembered the department that made them and he knew some of the people that actually made them. I put out the request that if I could get enough people to put down a deposit on the bars I would see about getting them made. I only got 4 takers. I was thinking about having 50 made as one last attempt. Can't do it with only 4 takers. Vendors like myself don't mind investing in parts if the group or Delorean owners will support the efforts. But to many times folks would rather find it local and pay the same price or higher or cheaper instead of the vendors that are trying to support the cars. If the group wants to open this back up I would go at it again, but who wants to shell out $350.00 to hold, only if and when it happens. John Hervey www.specialTauto.com P.S. I have already looked into replacement door openers. << I agree with Marc on all of this. Torsion bar failure is not a widespread problem and no one is going to worry about this kind of silly stuff (my apologies to Paul) for decades, when it actually IS a problem. And as far as non-owners that are all worked up over this parts availability stuff - doesn't it show something when the actual owners are not concerned? i think it's kinda funny how the recent additions to the list seem to be rallying everyone to make sure there are parts available for future owners - you don't need to worry about it! there will be parts! we really need to quit crying over quarter panel dies, torsion bars, etc.... cars are being parted out all the time and there's nothing to worry about..................... just ask the list WHEN THE TIME COMES! that's what i have learned. no part is inaccessible. if you have the $$$, that is. I even saw one park in someones driveway right next to a whte bricklin (about 5 min from my house at the time in syosset). I also came upon 2 other cars right in my area but could NEVER find the owners to talk to (just my luck). I even parked right next to one at the library one time waiting for the owner to come back, but after 2 hours I left. now I moved out to the hamptons and since I have seen 2 DeLoreans That I know live around here, but my luck every time I see the cars, There either parked for hours or just leaving. the piont of my story Is I too would like to get to know some other DeLorean Owners Here on LI, but have not been able to strike up not one conversation with a current DMC owner in the 3 years I have owned my car. I was given a nice tour of the grounds and the house. When I was there John DeLoreans dogs, Alfredo & Lucy were abandoned there. Where they still there? In addition, the grounds manager let me go thru some of the DeLorean memorabilia & tax records that were left there in the basement of the house. Did you have an opportunity to see them? And then what is the process to refit i.e. how much turning does the bar need once in place. The more detail the better Cheers Paul #6463 http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.salsbury/ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 9 Date: Tue, 05 Nov 2002 09:56:42 -0000 From: "jamesrguk" <James_rg@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: annoying misfire Hi all, I am still having an annoying misfire, I am pretty sure it down to an injector that is passed it's sell by date, as it is not spraying very nicely. To my knowledge the spray pattern on a mechanical injection system is more crucial than on an EFI system because the valves are not always open at the point of injection. I am fairly sure the misfire is fuel related for the following reasons: 1) My timing light suggests that all plugs are sparking 2) All plugs are less then 8 months old. 3) 2 of the injectors are new, 4 are 2nd user but appeared to be clean and ok when 1st installed approx. 10 months ago, and the engine has run fine until recently. 4) All of my HT leads are new as well as the cap and rotor arm. Anyway my question is really why are the injectors getting blocked?, have I just been unlucky? I have a new fuel pump, clean tank, and a filter on the fuel pickup and had the main fuel filter change about 10 months ago. Any ideas?
