Replace the bearings in the 2 idler pulleys. While the "vee" belt is
off rotate the pulley on the A/C compressor and make sure it turns
smoothly with no roughness. You will also need an "O" ring seal when
you replace the bearings. If the belt is origional you may want to
replace it also.

Lubricate the throttle spool and cable. If that isn't enough then
adjust the link between the throttle spool and throttle valves,
loosening one end and lengthening one turn, that should be all that
you need. Remember that there is a locking pin in the ball socket
which must be removed first to get the end off, just like on the
struts but smaller. You should either locktite the screws on the
throttle plates or "stake" them so they can't come loose.

thought I'd share was a loose butterfly valve. Not only did it cause a

causing drastically high idle.If you're having troublesome idle issues
you may want to check this out too.. just align and tighten the screws

Subject: radio harness pin-out?
Two questions,
I've been looking for, but can't find, the pin-out for the harness side of
the Craig Radio harness. I know the ASI version is on the Midstate DMC site
(http://www.midstatedmc.com/parts/radioplug.html), but I can't find the
layout for Craig radios. Does anyone have it available?
Second, should I use the existing Craig radio ground wire for the new
radio, or should I run a separate ground? The new radio requires a
dedicated positive connection to the battery, and I'm curious if I need to
run a new ground or use the existing one.
Thanks,
-Hank

Another question I'm thinking about today, Does anyone
know of a supplier for a twin turbo that will fit the
plenum of the PRV? I'd be interested in that. But even
more interesting is if anyone has a working scematical
plan of the twin turbo layout? I'm thinking of moding
my PRV with a custom turbo but I need a starting
point. In one pic I saw that the "W" section of the
plenum was removed and piped down. If anyone has some
info they might be able to send me Id be very
interested.

I dont know the pinout, but as a general rule I try to not use the stock harness when installing an aftermarket high-power radio.
Your correct, do not use the ground wire for the stock radio. The ground wire needs to be the same gauge as the positive feed. If the radio requires a direct positive connection to the battery, it is best to ground it there too. This also reduces the likelihood of engine/alternator noise.

I agree with that sediment totally! Price can be the
most mis-leading asspect about the DeLorean. If you
were to ask someone off the street what a DeLorean
should list for, there minds instantly would turn to
all the attention drawn upon it by BTTF and the fact
that they might have never even seen one indicating
there rare. The figure could be astrinomical. also
Insurance companys miss apprasing the car for much
more. and never forget about the owners who want ever
dime back they invested. I've seen the "add up game"
in other situations. buy a car for 15k put 10k into
it and the car is now worth 25k. Owners dont want to
hear that there not getting that. best bet is to do a
competive market analisis, analizing overal condition
and mechanics as they relate to price. Cross reference
with the DML if you find a "cream puff" send some pics
in and some stats. And like Mark said if you can grab
a DeLorean owner to go shopping with you do it! I
think I speak for all of us when I say that if we got
the call to help someone we would jump on it. I know I
would! Or better yet brows the DML and find an owner,
what better place to buy a DeLorean then from people
who Love DeLoreans. It worked for me :D

You can get a new dashmat from Dashmat.com, or go to a Kragen or other auto parts store and see if they have a Dashmat ordering book. You'll pay between $20-40 depending on a sale and you'll be very satisfied.

Subject: Fuel Distributor anyone?
Hi List,
I have been working on a DeLorean for a guy I met but I have tested his
fuel distributor and it is not working. I replaced his entire fuel system as
it was gelled up and the distributor is the only thing keeping it from
running at this point. I tested the pressure coming into the distributor and
its where it should be, but when you depress the plunger very little
fuel(drips) comes out of the dist ports. The cylinder inside the distributor
isn't stuck but I assume there is crud inside of it after seeing what I
cleaned out of the tank. I replaced all of the hoses and gave it an ignition
tune up so its close to seeing the road again. He bought the car when it was
brand new and let it sit since the mid 80's (We all know that wasn't smart)
If anyone has a used fuel distributor out there please let me know. Or if
anyone can test this one that would be great too.
Thanks

Hello,
if you are positive you are taking your car out of storage next spring, and
only plan on storing the car for maybe 5-6 months, then all you need to do is
find a place that is secure and will keep the rodents away (like a
self-storage lot), gas the car up, put some fuel stabilizer in the car and
run it for a bit, and just park it. i always park on some carpet to keep
moisture away. put the windows down a crack to avoid musky odors, and just
let her sit until the snow melts away. 5 months isn't that long and if your
car is half decent, it will start right up in march w/o a hiccup. i wouldn't
worry about anything else.
good luck!

Lessons Learned:
I recently installed a new radio/cd player in my DeLorean. I snipped off the old harness from the radio and wired it into the new radio.
Problem: Every time I try to turn up the volume on the radio it starts cutting out. Apparently the old harness connection plugs are worn out and don't make enough contact to pass enough current to power the new radio.
Solution: Connect the Battery and Accessories radio connections directly to the Battery and Accessories wire connections before they go into the harness connection, bypassing the harness connector.

I don't think this would sound Clackity Clack, but since it's so
simple to check out it's worth the try: Do the fanblades on the
alternator by any chance hit anything? When the RPM on these go up
they tend to bend out a bit becuase of the centrufigal forces.
If they do, they'll make noise and eat through your fanbelt if
you're unlucky enough...
Hope this helps,
JAN van de Wouw

If anyone did tape this, I would be interested in a copy. I caught the
2:30am airing, but didn't get a chance to tape it. Please reply private
if you have it.

Subject: GKN. Book.
Robert,
Same firm different factory, now closed, the space saver spares were not in
common use in the UK so were bought in.
Full details will be in our new, "upbeat" book "Stainless Steel Legacy" in
its 3rd year of research!
We have spent many interesting days/weeks, travelling all over the UK,
interviewing all sorts of suppliers, Ex employee's, sub-contractors etc etc.
During the course of this my-self and Andy Withers the co-author (and
fellow RHD owner) have un-covered loads on "mind blowing" information,
memorabilia, photographs, original documents etc.
But it all takes such a long time to do!
Obviously we can't reveal much yet as it would lessen the book's impact.
We plan to make the book physically the same size as SSI, which I believe is
being re-printed later this year.
I hope it will be a "must have" for all us DeLorean nuts.
Watch this space,
Chris Parnham Hon. Sec. DeLorean Owners Club UK.

Interesting. My wheels say "GKN" on them. I take it that they made
the wheels as well? Although my spare says Rockwell Intl. on it.

Dave, Yes, I can flow and pressure test the fuel distributors. I also have
new and rebuilt in stock. Look under Fuel Injection on the web site.
