Marvin,

Thanks for your response. The strange thing is that they did insure my new
home and 3 other cars including a 60 nash metropolitan. They do not seem
to be consistent.

I recently requested State Farm quote on a condo in Florida. I was advised
they are taking no new clients for car or property coverage. Strange
corporate policy in my mind.

I would like to send a letter to John Delorean, but have no idea how to
get it to him. Do any of you know where I should send it so he gets it?

Sincerely, Casey at putsch.1@xxxxxxx

Subject: Led Lights

Hello List,
I use led's on my front blinkers, side markers and door lights.
There was a reason why I didn't do my taillights.
I did this mod over a year ago, and at that time I could only get a
hold of led's that were used as third brake lights. Those led's were
not bright enough. I would have had to use a heck of allot of led's
to equal an incandescent bulb. This meant modifying the rear lenses.

I have waited patiently for someone to come out with an array of
led's on a bayonet style that was bright enough to use as brake
lights.
And now I found them. I work for a company that builds off road
military vehicles. And are Singaporean customers were complaining
that the incandescents blow to early from vibration. So we have been
testing these bayonet style 1156 and 1157's in red and amber.
And are proposing them to the Singaporean government.

Like Bob had posted, these led's are bright, you can't look at them.
And they have an improved viewing range (35degree viewing). There are
15 led's on a bayonet. And you install them as you would an
incandescent bulb.

As soon as I am done with a current project on my car I will purchase
them and take pictures.

But be careful, there are other companies out there making the same
bayonet style led's. They are not bright enough. These led's would be
a nice addition to Rob Grady's replacement taillight boards.

Regards
Mike

Subject: LED Lights "pics and specs"

Hello List,

When I ordered samples from Jamstrait I asked the gentlemen on the
phone if they were DOT approved.
He said, all incandescent bulbs on your car (except the headlights)
are not DOT approved. Only the lenses are DOT approved. Therefore
they are legal to use.

Now, I don't know local laws concerning that matter but that's what
he had told me.
You will have to look into it. I do know that some clear lenses that
are used are not DOT approved. But again, depending on the area you
live.

I don't want to defend or tell people on this list to purchase
something that I like or works for me. I don't recommend modifying
your taillights or any other lenses on your car. Use your own
judgment and research the item yourself.

www.jamstrait.com these are the guys with the good stuff. there web
page doesn't give to much info.
So look in yahoo's File under LED's I posted pics and specs.

Note: There is a company called katz that advertises in import mags.
They buy there Leds from Jamstrait and with a nice price mark up.

Regards
Mike

Subject: Airbox performance

OK guys, I realize what gain many other air intakes do(only a couple
of ponys). However, for 250$ it is a VERY easy instalation that looks damn
good and IS way better than the stock one. How do I know this? Simple, I
didn't need to go to a dyno to see what the diference is, I can feel
exactly what is going on. How can I do this? Simple I have been racing
everything under the sun for years and you have to be able to feel exactly
what is happening. However since this is a business of sorts, I will
eventually get the dyno numbers for you all.

Also, I think you should all realize this: I would say there are a
whole lot of people out there that want more performance, but don't want
to go crazy with cams, or super/turbo charging and don't have the time or
the money for it. Well, things such as my airbox are perfect for them.

I tell you what, you find me something for the Delorean that does what
my airbox does for $250. Helps performance and is damn trick to boot. If
you did, sign me up I want one too! :)

The fact of the matter is that all you have to go on is my picture and
what I have had to say. Well, I suggest you HOLD OFF ON SPECULATION untill
some people start trying it and then see what they have to say. This is
all I am going to say anymore on the subject, if you want one, fine, if
you don't, fine. The fact of the matter is there is very little you can
buy for Deloreans aftermarket wise, and I wanted to get stuff for my car,
so I made it. If you want this stuff too, I'll sell it to you. I don't
really need the headaches of making and selling stuff now I was just doing
this because I thought some people would be happy finally doing something
interesting to there car which is basically the same as eveyone elses.

I apologize if the e-mail came across harsh, I just want to clear things
up. Just wait and see.

Subject: Missing tail light gasket /more on LEDs

My car seems to be missing both tail light gaskets that fit between the
tail
light assemblies and the rear fascia. I never noticed this until I looked
in the parts manual wondering how hard it would be to convert to LED
lamps.
The drawing of the gasket in the parts manual (part # 101489 SEAL,
TAILLAMP
ASSY) looks very thick considering that my tail lights look just fine
without the gasket. Come to think about it, I repaired the tail light
boards on a friend's car, and it didn't have any gaskets there either.
Are
these gaskets for real?

Don't think that only a few DeLorean owners are wanting to upgrade their
tail light assemblies to LEDs. There are plenty of teens at local car
shows
that are finding ways to do it to their cars that probably have more
invested in chrome accessories than they do in the original purchase of
the
car. I already saw a car that had blue LED film pin striping. It looked
really sharp and bright.
Soon I expect to see LED replacement bulbs on the shelf at auto parts
stores
next to the old incandescent bulbs. I have had thoughts about hacking up
my
OEM light assemblies to fit LED arrays, but in the long term this would
really be a waste. Any LED modifications that we could make to our cars
now
(with perhaps the exception of retrofit bulbs) will be obsolete soon.

By the way, the extra bright halogen backup lights on my DeLorean are
doing
just fine. There is no heat damage whatsoever. I even left my backup
lights on for a few minutes while holding my hand over the lens. It
didn't
get hot at all.
