Subject: Stainless Steel Polish
Hey list,
This weekend while up in Pennsylvania a friend of mine had a
Stainless steel BBQ. It was pretty dirty and "heat stained" (brownish
color) along with normal dirt from being outside. He took out this
cleaner from "MSW - Stainless Cleaner" that was made by the same BBQ
manufacture (MSW). It went on as a liquid and with minimal
rubbing....the stainless looked like it just came from the factory! I
am going to go to a local BBQ place here (NY) and see if they sell it
and try it out. It left no residue what so ever on the Stainless and
it didn't pickup any fingerprints when you touched it. Has anyone
used/tried this before? Hopefully I find it here and I can try it out
this week if it stops raining....I'll keep everyone posted.

Subject: Newbie Files
Much to my surprise the newbie corner is back in business. On the DMC
News site, Technical information section, there is a listing called
Newbie Files (waiting for content). As originally conceived, my idea
was to list some of the things new owners need to know, not great
technical items just basic survival.
Any thoughts? Mail me privately, I'll check to see if it fits or is
already handled, etc.
What should you have known at the start that you had trouble finding
out? What did you have to call a vendor about that you should have been
able to find easily on your own? What did you discover in that realm
that you wish to pass on to others? What are you still wondering about
that would fit these files...if you don't know there are others who
don't know. Submit it! Any question is a good question, there are no
dumb ones...submit it!

Subject: Official word on Sunstar Model
Sunstar Toys has licensed the DMC logo from DeLorean Motor Company (Houston)
for use on their models and packaging, making this model an official
DeLorean Motor Company licensed product. As part of our agreement with them,
we have been in close contact with them as the model gets closer to
shipment.
As you may have heard, DeLorean Motor Company had one of the two
pre-production models on display at our open house last weekend. Our contact
at Sunstar says that the factory is planning to have models in the U.S. on
September 15th, but he says they are always 2-4 weeks behind and expect
early to mid-October to be more likely. As the licensor of the logo to
Sunstar, DeLorean Motor Company will be the first to receive models and
therefore the first to ship.

i am the owner of the car which Bill is describing now. he sold it to me in
November, and we are BOTH very proud of the job done on the wheels of VIN
11596!! the first thing he asked me when i got home with it to Fargo, ND
was, 'so has anyone said anything about the CHROME WHEELS!?!?!?!' he he
he!!! well, i have heard a lot of compliments at both car shows and just
cruising down the street. the business who did my these wheels did a GREAT
JOB!!!

That's just one of those aggravating little things I'd like to correct in the
updated manuals... starting with the parts manual. I noticed some time ago
that the speedo drive cap appears not with the speed cable illustration but
with the "suspension" section. Duh. Plus it's called by different names in
different places, including "dust cover," as I recall. Not real helpful.
If you're signed up for DMCTech, look for some activity in the next weel or
so, as I complete test scans of the various manuals I'm using. I'll be
sending out various illustrations, including several originals you've
probably never seen, for comment and suggestion for additions and
improvements.

Hey guys,
for the last two weeks i've had a recurring problem -
every now and then while i am driving my voltage would drop a couple of volts
for no apparent reason, then it would come back up on it's own after a few
seconds. also it will cause the battery light to flicker when i hit higher
RPM's such as during a quick acceleration. but then it would behave normally
when i am at 'normal' driving conditions. also, i have never had a problem
with the battery dying on me while i drive, however it only takes about 2-3
hours to kill it enough to not to start the car if you leave the doors open.
anyway, the problem was kind of troublesome before but it didn't worry me too
much because it always returned to normal after awhile. however, today on my
way home from work the voltage was down to about 10 volts (just above the
first numbered tick) with my battery light either on or flickering for most
of my 10 mile trip home, which was scary because i was afraid i would have to
get a tow home!!!!
anyone have any idea on what to do or check out? i don't know the first
thing in troubleshooting this problem, but i can follow anyone's directions
or ideas. someone suggested checking the front ground strap - where is that
located? i checked the parts manual and it was quite ambiguous as to the
"front ground strap".
FWIW, my battery is a couple of years old i believe (haven't brought it in to
get checked out yet) and i replaced the alternator belt this spring and it is
good and tight. also, the previous owner of my car replaced it with the 130
amp (i think that's what it is??) upgrade about a year and a half ago. ALSO,
is it true that one of the battery straps is on the right rear trailing arm
bolt? i think i read that somewhere. my car makes a 'clunk' when i make
turns sometimes (and i had the drive shafts lubed last week) but i haven't
had time to investigate it fully (body-chassis bolts and trailing arm bolts).
could this be a contributing factor?

Andy,
The ground strap for the Battery goes from the battery compartment to
the trailing arm bushing bolt on passenger side (not the trailing arm
bolt itself). You'll have to remove the Trailing Arm sheild to see it.
The ground straps in the front will be a bunch of black wires going
to one lug that I believe is bolted to the front crumple tube section
on the drivers side.

Andy, Sounds like the regulator in the alternator is going out or has gone
out. This hot weather all over the country is playing havoc on them. Delco
has changed their specifications two or three times in the last couple of
years and even though they try to do better, sometimes it's not quite as good
in all applications. They try to make one device fit as many applications as
possible. We are always looking for the better regulator. I'm am going to
start adding a diode in the light wire to try to stop some potential feed
back problems.

This car has never failed me. It really has been fun to drive and quite a

Subject: AC cycling
Hi List,
I finally got my AC to stop dripping by blowing out the drain hose with
an air compressor. I put my hand into the evaporator it was very clean;
hopefully that problem doesn't come back.
When I drive the Car the AC cycles on/off ever 5 seconds and then stays
on and doesn't cycle when I am in idle. The AC works great but it is just
kind of annoying to have it cycle that much. I have had it on for over and
hour straight and it continues to blow cold air. I see that the pressure
switch can be adjusted to changed the cycling time. Will I hurt anything by
adjusting it so it comes on between 45 and 90 seconds like the manual says?
Or could this be because I am low on Freon? I just had it evacuated and
recharged but the guy that did it was a few sandwiches short of a picnic if
you know what I mean so maybe he didn't put enough in. any help would be
appreciated
