Mike and others, Your seats do look like they are in excellent condition, but not "like new" condition. From the factory, the seats did have a bit of a ripple effect. For comparison, check out the 2 links below. The first one is from Mike P's car, and the second one is from my former car Mike Pike: http://www.iqintermedia.com/~pikem/MVC-077F.JPG (original seats, right?) Mike Babb: http://www.babbtechnology.com/pics/3472images/inside/brake.jpg (replaced seats - about 1000 miles on them when the picture was taken) Cheers, Michael C. Babb -----Original Message----- From: Michael Pike [mailto:iqintermedia@xxxxxxxxx] Unless there is something about the replaced leather seats - mine are original, and I don't have a wrinkle in them... not a blemish.... these so called new ones are always beat up looking... [snip] You can see pics of my seats at: http://www.iqintermedia.com/~pikem anyhow, I just wondered because I see lots of people claiming new seats, and they look like crap to me. With the symptom you described the majority of the time it is the fuel accumulater at fault but a bad impulse coil or ignition coil could also be the cause. The next time it won't start hot pull a spark plug wire and see if there is any spark while cranking. Even with some damage and holes from a dent puller it can be repaired. It would require removal and shipping to someone capable of such repairs but it would be a lot cheaper than buying another door. The bigger question is what other damage there is and how badly you want to return the car to the origional finish. Even if there is no damage to a painted car not only would it require removal of the paint and fixing any damage but it will also involve regraining as the surface was probably sanded by a random orbital sander so as to give the paint job a "bite". The best way to go about this would be to remove the panels from the car and chemicaly remove the paint. IMHO if the paint job is in fair shape leave it alone unless you have a lot of time or money. The person you need to talk to is Dan Deutch (I probably misspelled his name) as he had a BLACK car with a bad paint job that he tried to repair and one thing lead to another and now the car is stainless again. You say you have a "hollow plug" on top. If you are referring to the place where a tamperproof plug is supposed to be that is the spot to adjust the mixture screw. Make sure it is sealed against vacuum. The metering unit doesn't really do much at idle as the idle motor controls the amount of air, the fuel distributer is just putting the minimum amount of fuel into the motor. Check the 3 brass screws on the intake plenum are LIGHTLY seated closed and the idle micro switch is being activated by the throttle spool at idle. There is supposed to be a vacuum layout sticker on the underside of the engine cover. I just looked at a site that offers insurance for DeLoreans. www.lelandwest.com I inputted my information and received a quote in minutes. The car is insured for an "agreed value" and the yearly mileage cannot exceed 5000 miles. Lelandwest has DeLorean listed. Just thought I would share this with the list. When I wash my car, I do lift > the louvers and scrub and spray the engine cover and rear-inner > Be careful how you do the louvers. The two rectangular mini louvers at the lower edge are neither glued nor molded in place. They're held in by a type of black caulk, which I discovered after I got too close and blew one out onto the roof of my D while at a car wash! No damage, fortunately. 8-p Wayne A. JULY 8, 2001, Biltmore Estate Meet of the ETDOC. SO far, it looks like I have at least 7 confirmed cars going to be there. I would like to get as many as possible so if you are in the area of Ashville, NC do not hesitate to come. Also, if you are an enthusiast please come by, too. We will park right up in front of the home for a very nice photo opportunity. I would like to start lining up the cars around 9-9:30am. Then we will tour the home, grounds, winery, and eating lunch at the The Bistro restaurant there. Afterwards, we will leave for a road tour around the city of Ashville at approx 2:30-3pm. I will post more on the road tour when I get more info...Scott Cagle is handling that part! Their will be a cost to enter the Estate, which will be $27.25 (normally $35). To get the discount, just stop by the Group Sales Office, instead of the Reception Ticket Area, prior to entering the gate to purchase your ticket-- just mention you are with the DeLorean Group. If you have any questions, visit www.etdoc.com, www.biltmore.com (for directions and pics), or email me at cadysrme(at)yahoo.com Thanks, Aaron Posey ETDOC __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Is it a hole? If it is just a hole it's suppose to be plugged up otherwise you will have a major vacuum leak. If it's just a hole you'll need to plug it, this is the access to the CO set screw inside the metering unit. If you lost the plug to it, I have heard of a few people using golf "T's" in it's place. It took about 5 months after the down payment. Superb Machine. Smells new, Drives New, Runs like it is right off the showroom floor. I have put about 5k miles on it since last September. Worth every penny. There are several that are sold every year, but the time required makes the wait approximately 4-6 months. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Your use of Yahoo!
