This statement is incorrect; regardless of any modification or fan circuit add-on's, the cooling fans should always run whenever the AC is turned on.

Ireland is part of Great Britain and because the British government helped
finance the project. DeLorean was born in Detroit and is not French. Hillel

If i remember correctly , from the DMC workshop manual, you need to set your Dwell meter to 4 cylinder to read the frequency valve

Control Fuel pressure should run from about 20psi(cold) to 55 psi(hot) according to the Technical manual(there is a nice graph to show engine temp in relation to pressure). I had problems with my CPR as it was stuck at 55psi hot or cold. It cost me about $220 to have mine referbished.

I recently purchased my "D" off e-bay. The former owner had the car for 15
years and provided me with @ least 25 pictures and all the service performed
on the "D". I must have spent four hours w/ him on the phone. I could have
paid less for a one, but this was exactly what I was looking for. I think
that is important. I wanted a manual, w/ black interior (w/ no cracks in the
dash), a gas flap in the hood, and under 25K miles!

In my opinion, those selling the car on ebay fit into two categories. The
seller either has no interest in the car, acquired through inheritance or
divorce settlement, lost interest in DeLorean, etc., etc. The rule of thumb
is that good cars sell within the clubs. I sold my car to another DeLorean
Owners Association member.
Most of the cars that I have seen on ebay are very neglected. I remember
several of the car offered on ebay are junk yard bound, wrecked, and the
sellers even tell the bidders that the Title is salvage, mileage unknown, car
has no updates, etc. Once in a while a nice looking car will appear...however
the mechanical operation of the car is questionable.
In addition, the used car dealers buy the cars at used car auctions. One
particular auction is the Mannheim "high line" auction where classic and
exotic cars are traded between dealers.
Usually the dealers have no interest in the car other than making a
profit with the least amount of investment to improve a 20 year old car.
Additionally, the current issue of DeLorean World has several DeLorean's
advertised for more than $20,000.

It works

That was ignorance. I found out later that the pump is indeed
mechanical.
I fixed the FanFailFix wiring and the fans do come on when I short
cirquit the otterstat. So that problem is fixed.
I managed to install the DMCJoe self bleeder kit, it was easier that I
thought, even with the turbo in the way.
However, the engine still overheats. After the engine reached 220 deg.
I stopped it and felt the coolant lines to and from the waterpump,
which were cold. And since the engine was pretty hot my current
conclusion is that the pump is not functioning, and since the pump
turns properly with the belt and doesn't make any suspicious noise I'm
guessing the thermostat is malfunctioning.
This is where my skills (and patience) end, so I'm driving her to the
shop next tuesday so that they may try to fix it. With my diagnose
they will probably be on their way pretty fast.
If that is fixed a FanZilla will be the next investment.

I too had a very mushy 2nd gear when I bought 4695. According to
Steven Wynne, the plastic clutch line kept the clutch from disengaging
100% and would make the gears crunch a little; the weak spot in the
system is the rollpin for the 2nd gear synchro, which had become bent
as a result. This made shifting into 2nd problematic.
It's simple enough to correct, if you consider splitting the
transmission simple. If I recall, the repair cost was nominal.

There are only 2 things that cause the trans to shift. 1 is the shift
linkage and the other is the shift computer. Although there is a
hydraulic valve body in the trans it gets its signal to shift from the
shift computer acting on the two solenoid valves. This is unlike
anything you car nut would be familiar with. The fact that it DOES
shift into all gears is good news in that the mechanicals of the trans
are probably in good shape. The only other thing you could check is
the adjustment of the cable from the throttle spol to the shift
computer. If it is WAY off it will affect the shift speeds. Don't
worry it is probably the shift computer causing the delayed shifts.

Hello,
I converte dmy D to 134a and it works great. The only thing you need
to keep in mind id that thr 134a runs under higher presure than the r-
12 so you may have to replace items from premature ware. However the
cost is still less than having to mess with the r-12.
The only thing I did to convert mine was chang out the charging
valves (on top of the compressor)and purge and vaccum out the system
SO THAT ALL OF THE THE OLD R-12 AND R-12 OIL IS OUT then rechrged it
with 134a, and it seem to be just as cold as the R-12.
REMEMBER THAT YOU CANT JUST LET THE R-12 GO FREE WHEN YOU DO THE
CONVERSION, IT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND VERY VERY DANGEROUS. YOU NEED
TO TAKE YOUR CAR TO A AUTO SHOP THAT HAS THE EQUIPTMENT TO CAPTURE
THE R-12. HAVE THEM DISCHARGE YOUR SYSTEM OF R-12 AND THE OIL.

Hi List,
my car is suffering from the hard start problem.
I have cleaned up contacts on transistors and put a new coil lead on.
It won't start after about 10 mins -an hour,untill its really cooled
down I guess.
So I'm gonna change the accumalator next as I think this may be the
trouble.
My 2 Questions are
1.Where is it and how do i get it off?
2.Who is it made by?
If it's made by bosh I can probably get one from a motor shop here.

Hello,
now that it is 70 out I can no longer drive my car until night time
because the air conditioning will not come on. when I turn the A/C on the
cooling fans dont come on and the compressor doesnt engage. I tested the
wire at the compressor and it is not getting power. any ideas on what this
could be? I have Mr. Herveys fan fix and new 40A circuit breakers installed.
The cooling fans cycle on and off like they should but I still havent had
the compressor come on since I bought the car. any ideas?
one last thing, and I checked the connections on the mode switch and they
are fine.

I have stumbled across something interesting...
a 1983 DeLorean 4-door, stretched limousine. Between the front and
rear doors there is a fixed glass window, the rear doors look exactly
like the front doors and operate the same. The stretch is probably
around 72" and there is a power operated glass partition behind the
front seats. The interior is black leather with silver mouton
carpeting. The exterior is raw stainless steel. The car is absolutely
perfect inside and out, it has been kept in air-conditioned/heated
storage, and has 7300 miles on the clock. It has also been kept in
running condition, with current state license/emissions stickers, and
I did take it for a short drive around the parking lot. It has a 6-
cylinder engine with an automatic transmission.

Subject: [ETDOC] Biltmore Estate, NC Meet
Hello all-
I am in the process of planning a meet for the ETDOC again!
I have reserved an area at Biltmore Estate (America's
Largest Home) in Ashville, NC. The date I am planning on
is July 8, 2001.
So far I am still in the middle of planning, but I would
like to do a small gathering in the morning. The cars will
be placed in front of the home, a PERFECT photo opp. We
would then eat lunch at the estate and leave for a road
tour around the Ashville.
If you have any interests, please email me and let me
know! This way I know how many cars to let the Biltmore
Rep know will be there. There will be a charge to get into
the area. The normal rate is around $35, but I think as a
group we can get in for around $27 per person (don't hold
me to it). If anyone is traveling and would like a hotel
room, there is a new Inn at the Estate, or lesser expensive
ones outside the Estate. Any information can be found
about Biltmore at www.biltmore.com. I will post meet
information at www.etdoc.com very soon.
