Subject: A DMC watch for the mailing list (update)
I just wanted to update the list members and catch anyone else who would
like to go in with us to get a watch made for their Delorean. Once again,
the $41.00 stainless steel watch will be made by Timex, and will have a dark
gray face (not the blue that I had previously posted). It's really sharp,
and can be viewed at:

I am not selling these watches, but rather just helping to form the 50 unit
minimum order we need to purchase these from Timex (the price will be
adjusted accordingly). We still could use a few more people to fill the

Hello my problem is the hazard flashers work ok,but on the left right
turns on the colum doesn't.
They worked fine before I just put a radio in my car!
Is there a wire that connects to the hazards behind the center
console that may have come loose?
Any help would be great.

I suggest checking the cold start valve circuit.
The cold start valve injects a shot of fuel to help a cold engine to start.
It does this only while the starter is cranking. If the engine doesn't
start after a few seconds of cranking, then a heater inside of the thermo
time switch warms up and disables the cold start valve to stop the engine
from flooding. But if the thermo time switch never lets the cold start
valve open within the first several seconds of cranking, then it will never
open until the thermo time switch has cooled back off again.
This might be why your engine will start one day and then not start the
next. Each time the switch contacts inside the thermo time switch cool off
after either a failed starting attempt or after running the car, the switch
contacts may intermittently not reset. Then the next time you try to start
the car, the switch cycles again. Perhaps on the next cycle the contacts
will finally allow the cold start valve to operate.
.....So, maybe you have an intermittently bad thermo time switch. Let the
car sit and cool off for a few hours and then check the thermo time switch's
contacts with an ohm meter. There are two contacts. The connection from
one contact to ground is the heating element that warms it up to stop
flooding during excessive starting. You should measure continuity through
this path. The connection from the other contact to ground is the circuit
giving power to the cold start valve. If it is EVER open when the engine is
cold, then it is bad, bad, bad and your car may not start.
Another symptom that would support my hypothesis: You never have this
problem once your engine is warmed up. It is only a cold starting problem.
This idea is just a shot in the dark, but it's worth a thought.

Hello all,
If you haven't got one allready, I would really like to urge everyone on the list
to put a Fire-extinguisher in their cars!
up untill yesterday I didn't have one in either my DeLorean, nor my Ford Escort
and boy am I glad someone else did! I was just driving along in my Ford, when all
of a sudden thick ribbons of smoke emersed just behind my Steeringwheel.
I immediately stoped, shut off the ignition end turned off my lights (the smoke
came from my lightswitch), but they stayed on.
I pulled ALL fuses in a panic-reaction, but the smoke grew thicker untill I had
fot-long flames licking my windshield!
If it hadn't been for a passer-by with an extinguisher, I probably would only have
had a DeLorean right now and a scrapheap that used to be an Escort...
First thing I did after arranging a tow was buy two (one for each of my cars)
CO2-extinguishers; my Escort was put out with a Powder-extinguisher, and this really
makes a terrible mess (and smells very bad too!!!)
So everyone please put one in your car(s), if not for your own safety
(and that of your car) then at least for the safety of everyone else on the road
besides you.

Most no start problems are related to the fuel pump circuit. Try the
following test the next time the engine will not start.
Locate the RPM (fuel pump) relay in the electrical compartment, if it is
attached to the electrical component frame remove it. With the relay plugged
into its socket insert a wire link jumper between the brown wire and
white/purple wire contacts of the relay socket. You should hear the fuel
pump running at the front of the car. If you don't hear the fuel pump
running you have the source of your no start problem. If you hear the pump
running try starting the engine; let me know the result of this test.
After you complete this test be sure to remove jumper from the RPM relay
socket.

Paul,
Your flasher problem is probably at the hazard switch. Reach behind the
center console and move the wires/plug leading to the hazard switch while
the directional signals are turned on and see what happens.

Did you take your car to ford a few years back for the ignition recall? That
was the big problem with them. They'd bury, and not QUIT burning. I work at

I own 3 Hondas, and my 1991 Honda has had this problem NUMEROUS times.
Plan on sinking some money, as it sounds like the tranny may have to be
rebuilt. Checking a tranny 's fluid level is crucial to auto trans.
survival. I now know this due to 7 rebuilds on my 91, and no, i'm not
kidding. Fluid tends to leak in weird ways in it. You can check it in the
morning, and by mid day, it was like, empty. Take your Delorean to a
certified DELOREAN mechanic, because nobody should touch it without factory
certification. The bonehead who did my honda wasn't very "certified" or
professional. Much luck to you!
