We have gotten a flood of complaints about yesterday's post from Moritz
via me. Due to trouble with his eGroups account, Moritz was unable to
post his own messages yesterday, so I posted it for him.

Apparently the Tech Tips page he put up does not work.

Please address your complaints directly to him via his homepage, which
you can reach from his DeLorean page below. Until Moritz solves his
eGroups problem, I will reject all DML posts regarding his stuff.

I had a simular problem just recently. After replacing the light switch
(which didn't fix the problem) then the entire turn signal assembly
(didn't
fix the problem) I finally changed the head lights and the was light. I
couldn't believe it both low beam head lights went out at a same time. So
instead of spending $10.00 I spent $200.

To DMC joe and the list
I have done this test to my own car. I would not ask for someone to do
anything with their car that couldn't be done safely by competant
individuals. BE WARNED - IF CONDUCTED IMPROPERLY IT IS POSSIBLE TO
DAMAGE THE CAR AND THE NEIGHBERHOOD. I need a couple of other owners
to test their torque converters so I can come up with a stall speed
not just of my own car. I cannot find any reference to a stall speed
in the service literiture. It is an important specifacation. The last
thing I would want to hear is that someone tried this test and damaged
their car or worse hurt someone.

It is possible and I have seen this more than once is that the low
beam filiment in both headlights is burned out. When this happens the
high beam filiment will still work. A possible scenerio is that 1
light burns out and is not noticed. After a time when the second one
burns out it seems like they both died at the same time. The best way
to test this is to do a continuity test of the low filiment on both
headlights. If the are not burned out then while you are there see if
there is 12 volts at the plug when you turn the lights on and go from
low to high. The next step would be (assuming voltage only on high at
the headlights) checking the dimmer switch.

For the benefit of those who are curious, would someone please show a
complete serial number, any actual DeLorean number, and then explain the
dissection of that number.Thanks.

Have you checked the low beam relay and socket?

Hi,
I was on a Bricklin site today looking for anything I could find on
the car. On the page there was a 6 page letter from an ex-employee
from the plant that gave his accounts of the plant from beginning to
end. How the attitude was in the plant, their (employees) initial
thoughts of the car, and some of the troubles that plauged the plant
(no parts, angry vendors). I know there are some ex-employees from
the Delorean plant on this list and I was wondering if you had some
free time, could you do the same?? I'm sure everyone on the list
would greatly appreciate it! I could host the letter on a homepage,
or I'm sure DMCNEWS would do the same (dave??). Also, while I have
the ex-employees attention, do any of you have any personal photos of
the plate when it was open that you could upload to the internet,
maybe along with the letter?
This is something that I'm sure everyone on the list would love to
read. Who here hasn't spent hours online trying to find anything and
everything on the car, just to find the same old pics and owner
stories of how BTTF changed their life.
Just a thought

Scott,

Try wiggling the wires under the steering column. I have the EXACT same
problem. When I would turn on the lights (low beams only) they didn't
come
on.....but when I pushed the switch forward for the brights, they worked.
I
then replaced the switch but no luck so I just took my hand, grabbed the
wires and shook them a little and they came on....from time to time I have
to do that and for the life of me, I can't find where the problem is.
I've
tried tracking down the wire that is causing the prob, but there are SOOOO
many under there that I couldn't find the prob. Once I finish with the
engine swap, I'll probably have the same prob again and will try to track
it
down. If I EVER do, I'll let ya know what I find....if you find the
prob....lemme know :)

Hope this helps,

Duke

Mike,

I see what he did wrong. The link is bad because I've moved my website
and
he was pointing it to my old site. My new site also has the tech tips on
them in the better scanned format. You can see them at this url as
thumbnails and click on them for the bigger ones:

http://www.geocities.com/at88mph_1999/techtips.html

Please feel free to post this on the message board.

Thanks,

Duke

When asking for password access to the DOD PLEASE include your VIN number.

It takes me a lot longer to give you access if I have to hunt down your
entry to verify your access.

Thanks!

Subject: DeLorean Rental Wanted in NY

I've received a request from a person in Long Island, NY (on the East End)
that would like to rent or lease an average or better DeLorean ASAP for
about a week. The person is a Photographer and a DeLorean enthusiast, and
wants to drive one for about a week before he decides if he would like to
buy one. If the car he rents is also for sale, he might consider making
an
offer on that car.

I've received and satisfied requests for static displays or owner-driver
events, but this is the first request for a rental to be driven. If any of
you are aware of a person or company in NY that might be able to satisfy
this request, please reply directly to Gary@xxxxxxxxxxxx The insurance and
liability issues should be considered before you consider filling this
request yourself. The owner of the car could be held responsible for
damages caused by the driver.
