On this subject I have a question.
I finally drove my car home yesterday, the first time for me to ever
drive a DeLorean.
Since it was kind of hot outside and my passengerwindow doesn't work
I thought I'd try the airco.
On the highway (going about 75mph/120kph) the compressor cycled on
and off for approximately 2secs on and 9secs off. (And boy was this
noticable on the engine-output!)
My first thought was "low freon" so I switched it off and just put
the system on "vent".
When I was home I decided to investigate further, so while idling I
switched on the Aico at Max and got a 7sec on, 3sec off cycle.
Now what is my problem? Or is it suposed to be this way?
I also have another "is it supposed to be like that question":
My car still has the original Craig-radio (with the display on the
cassette-door) and I wanted some music (I had a twoo hour drive ahead
of me). The radio seems to default to .2 MHZ-steps while on FM.
I wanted to tune into 96.8, but could only get 96.7 or 96.9
as you can understand reception was terrible.
Is ther a way around this? I plan on replacing the radio with a
Kenwood Radio-CD-combination, so it isn't that important, but I was
just wondering.

Boy, tearing off after a guy you just hit?? I am not sure what state you
live in, but in Ohio any rear end collision is the fault of the driver in
the rear. Had this happened here, you would have been at fault, and would
be fixing not only your car, but his/hers as well.

Subject: re rear cover
I had the same problem with my rear cover. At the rear corners of
the rear cover are 2 bump stops. The rubber ends of the stops were
basically gone. I got 2 small pieces of rubber hose with an ID about
the same as the OD of the metal nub. I cut the hose long enough to
allow a slight upward pressure(very slight to avoid bending the
cover). Now when I pull the rear cover handle the cover pops up on
its own.

Subject: Richmond show
I'm glad I made it to the tech session and show in VA this past weekend. It
was a band-aid to my pain since I had to miss Cleveland. But this show was
an unbelievable experience. DeLorean owners are the coolest people to hang
out with. We all had a great time and we all leaned a lot. Jack, Rob,
Debbie, Bob, Vicky, and many others were very helpful this past weekend.
Jack had a great facility for us to work on the cars. We couldn't have asked
for a better place to work on, and store the cars overnight. That was very
generous of Jack to have us there, and I know he enjoyed it! Special thanks
to Gary for helping me make my car look 100% better with his ability to
detail the car :-). Thanks to Cliff Andrews for letting me crash at his
apartment on Friday night. Thanks to Jack too... (you know why Jack). And
hats off to Bob Miller for being the BEST sport when it came to us busting
on each other... LOL!!! Bob is a great sport and a good guy. I had a blast
with the caravan that Gary, Marc and myself were in on the way down. The way
back was fun too... we had others join us for the ride back. The weekend was
a lot of fun, and I hope that there are many more to come in the near
future. (no pun intended).

RIA 7126 & RIA 7124 Were used as test cars to complete 50,000miles, around N
Ireland, testing required by US law. One of the cars never made it to 50,000
and was written off the other now resides in a Belfast museum which you will
see if you are coming over to Ireland for the Eurofest next year! The 2 test
cars had extra head/fog lights in the front DMC grill.
The licence stays with the car not the owner, although in England the car
licence is based on the year of manufacture like X1234 ABC would be a
current registration (X denotes Sept 00 to April 01), in Northern Ireland
they are based on area of registration. DeLorean's registered by the factory
used the prefix's SIJ, AXI and WIA.

Here is a tentative route and meeting points and times for the Fall
Foliage Tour. (Oct 20,21 & 22)
Tentative route and time.
1. Staring Locations in Philadelphia Area and New Jersey are still
being worked out by Mid Atlantic people. Head up NJ Trpk to
Palisades Center (big shopping Mall) this would be one of meeting
points.
2. Depart Mall at 10:30 AM, travel across Tappan Zee bridge to I 95
in CT. to the McDonald's rest stop right on I 95 exit 10 in
Darin CT(this is where I will join in and the people from LI or
Down State NY. This may also be good for some CT people as well).
Approximate Distance 32 MI, travel time 35 min.
3. Depart McDonald's at 11:15 am and head to Old Mystic Village Via
I-95 throughout CT for lunch (and meeting location for New
England people).
Note: There are several rest stops on I- 95 through CT we could add
them if necessary. Approximate Distance is 93 MI travel time 101 min.
4. Arrive in Old Mystic Village at 1:00-1:15 PM, Brake for lunch Hook
up with people from New England.
Depart for hotel in Westerly 2:30 to 3:00 and check in at 3:30
Approximate Distance 12 MI, travel time 32 min.
If someone familiar with the Palisades center could pick a good place
at the mail for everyone to meet please let me know and I will post
the info.

October 20, 21, 22, 2000 (Fri, Sat, Sun)
Itinerary
The tour will start Friday morning Oct 20th and there will be several
meeting locations starting as far south as the Philadelphia area
working up the New Jersey turnpike through New York, Connecticut and
finishing in Westerly Road Island. I will set up the meeting times
and places or you can just meet at the hotel in RI.
Friday Oct 20th
1. Everyone meets in Mystic Connecticut for a late afternoon lunch
(on your own lunch).
2. After lunch proceed to the hotel about 25 min away. We will be
staying at the Pleasant View Inn on the ocean in Westerly RI. We
have a special group rate of $ 90 per night but you must tell
them you are with the Delorean group. Make your own reservation
with the hotel @ 1-800 782-3224 also see them at ://www.pvinn.com/.
3. Dinner at Maria's Seaside Café in Westerly RI 6:30 P.M. cost is
$35 per person includes tax and gratuity see menu one the back.
(with a cash bar).
4. Tec session with Rob Grady back at the hotel after Dinner.
Saturday Oct 21st
1. Breakfast, depart hotel at 9:45 A.M. Newport Creamery
(inexpensive)in town about 5-10 minutes away from the hotel.
2. Depart from Hotel at 11:45 and drive to Newport along scenic route
1 (about 50 min ride) we will make a short stop at the visitors
tourist information center in Newport and then proceed to the
beach were we will be displaying the cars. From the beach you can
walk to the Mansion tours, cliff walk or town or there should be
public transportation.
3. David Titelbaum (2nd place winner of Concours at Delorean 2000 car
show) will be doing a presentation on preparing a Delorean for
judging.
4. Around 5-6 PM Dinner across the street from the beach at Flo's
Drive through Clam Shack. There is a 2nd floor bar overlooking the
ocean and cliff walk, the last time I was there they had lobsters
for $6.95, crabs, clams, burgers, hot dogs etc. After dinner
caravan back to hotel.
5. Depart from the Hotel about 8:30 and Visit the Casino (35 min
away)till…..?
Sunday Oct 22nd
1. Breakfast, depart from hotel 9:30 and head into town, after
breakfast check out.Drive to the submarine Museum in CT. (about
15-20 min away)ittakes about an hour to see just about everything
including the Nautilus (worlds first nuclear Submarine).
2. Optional Visit to old Mystic (about 10 min drive) depart for home.
3. Note: On I- 95 south about an 1 hour outside of Mystic, are outlet
stores for those who may want to stop.
Registration is $35 per person includes dinner at Marias Seaside
Café.

Thanks for the explanation of your outside condensation problem. Moisture
collecting inside the blower housing is a common problem, you might try to
spray lithium grease on the bearings to prevent water damage. Condensation
collecting on the AC ductwork can be eliminated by coating the effected area
with spray undercoating. This product is available by the can at NAPA, ask
for product #765-2644.
Concerning your headlight switch, we checked with PJ Grady and, as you
mentioned, they have no record of sending you a headlight switch, contact us
directly so we can help you solve this mystery.

First of all be glad that there wasn't any personal injuries.
Second, the fender looks repairable no problem - DMC Houston will fix that.
Third, I hope you got hold of the guy who did this and made him pay.
As a side note, thinking of what you said about being "locked up on all 4
wheels", I was wondering if there is a possibility to get ABS (anti-lock
brakes) for the DeLorean. I'm not a mechanic, but could it be done?
If it can be done, then how much $$$ is involved? Just curious....
A modification from the stock DeLorean, yes, but this is something more -
its a safety issue...

In the USA FM Broadcast Radio frequencies go from 88.1 MHz to 107.9
MHz, in odd-numbered decimal increments. Since the radio is a PLL
semi-digital (the tuner, not the receiver!) design, it is trying to
lock on those frequencies. If the stations in your country use even-
numbered frequencies it's probably time for a new radio.

I did so too on mine;
pops up the right way now, but now the louvre doesn't latch at all.
It only latched so and so, but not at all now...
So I thougt I'd just re-adjust the louvre too;
BIG MISTAKE. It latched great, but on opening it hit the rear-edge of my T-panel.
Took me 20 minutes to get this fixed, so I'll probably make a new latch-loop
on the engine-cover that has a slight bend in it so the latch DOES catch.
Great feeling this tinkering, just loving it and I've only been an owner for 33 hours...

PS. anyone know of a changeover-part for the bulb-holders for the side-markers?
They're part of the harness and on "Dagger" some have rusted through since they didn't
have any bulbs in them (removed by previous owner).
Since I live in the Netherlands I'd prefer if the parts where available in Europe...

The previous owner of my D installed a tapered coil spring around the cover
latch where it was riveted in place. Whenever you pull the release arm, the
spring aids in opening the cover. It has never failed and when the cover is
closed, you cannot tell that the spring was installed. The solution was
very simple and even more effective! If anyone wants some pictures of this,
let me know and I will get them for you.

Also live in state where rear driver at fualt no matter what(CA). Brother in law was in same kind of accident. Front driver drove off and then filed that he was in hit and run. Insurance paid 10 g to settle out of court.
Count your blessings damage was so minor and driver of other car so dumb.

FWIW, Back in November of last year (1999) I received a message from
someone at Volvo. I think he was from Sweden (the address was volvo.se).
Anyway, he was asking me about the DeLorean body construction (materials
and such), and also asked if I had any drawings. I answered his
questions best I could, and sent him the body portion of the service
manuals.
I doubt this is related because I am sure it takes more than a few
months to design a car, and produce a prototype.... but who knows?!
BTW, to the moderators: THANKS FOR SNIPPING ALL OF THE LONG QUOTATIONS!

Hi DML, since anti-lock brakes are on the subject plate, I figure I'd add my
.02$ Ok, what about anti-lock wheels from a saab? I know they probily will
only fit the front, but hey, its worth a try. I have my saab shop manuel
here, and it doesn't say much about it, but I will help as much as I can if
this is persuied. 89 and up they have them on them, i've only worked on 88
at the highest, so i've never seen any in person.
But as it looks here, you have to swich the whole caliper.
(shrug) I don't know, just a crazy idea from my head.

It might not latch because the part it does latch onto is not in the right
position. Loosen the part and move it until it does latch. That might be the
problem, it was for my DeLorean before the engine cover deal.

Subject: Hinges on engine cover
How do you get to the bolts on the hinges on the deck side of the
engine cover. I am going to replace mine as one on the cover side
has "lost" the stud on the bolt and I now have a new pair. (I still
have the stud and the bolt, but I don't know how to reattach it to
the hinge.)
Looks like maybe you approach it through the inside of the car at the
rear deck but I am not positive. Any help would be appreciated.

Alright, a couple of questions....
The rear view mirror is unstable on my D. When ever i hit a bump in the
road in shifts. Any suggestions?
Anyone have any suggestions on replacing headliners?
Also i noticed that the belt for the alternator or ac (its on the left when
your looking at the engine) has a small worn spot down the center from where
it looks like its making contact with another pully. Anyone had this happen
before?
