channel 19 on the way to Cleveland. Just goes to show, everyone thinks
they're an expert on these cars.

Nothing really that funny, just a lot of "WOW! Three DeLoreans!!"
------------Auburn, IN to Cleveland--7 DeLoreans
"Look at the seven Lamborghinis!!!!!"
"What the hell are those little gray cars goin east bound????"
"Those were sold at the Ford dealerships, right??"
"Hmmmmm, they're all the same color!"
"How much those cost??", "Oh they were just under 82 grand"

Again, lots of "Look at the 5 (or 6,7) DeLoreans eastbound!" For some
reason they only counted 5 or 6 most of the time--who knows.

The hotel maintinance guy grabs me as I get in the hotel elevator.......He
says the girl he works with told him that most states OUTLAWED DeLoreans
because they were too fast for the road. YEAH RIGHT--I only wish!

Guy comes up to me......"Yup you don't see ANY of these anymore....the few
that are left no one drives, they just sit in the garage or museums." I
said "Well, there were over 100 in Cleveland yesterday, most of which were

mine over 1600 miles this week." Response........"Oh."
No talk from the truckers today though. Only heard one guy say something.
The BS stories that go along with this car.......they just baffle the mind
how
some people could come up with them. By yourself a CB off eBay for $20 and
just listen to the crap these "experts" preach to each other about your car.

Dear group,
I hope you have seen the DMCNews pictures by David Swingle from the DeLorean
Car Show, and I hope you saw the electric guitar that (sorry, forgot his
name) made. He let me hold it, and he told me the front and back was made
from an actual DeLorean, the hood, actually. It was cool, on the back it had
the VIN of the DeLorean and a matching VIN on the back of the head of the
guitar. It also had the ignition, the hazard button, the headlight button,
and on the back it had the gascap.
The guitar was a Fender Telecaster.

Hey List,
I just wanted to take the time to thank Ken Koncelik for putting the
Cleveland show all together. I don't think there would have been another
chance where I could put the faces to the e-mail addresses that I have seen
online for the past few years. I really have to say the highlight of the
trip was when I got a chance to meet JZD. That was an experience to be
remembered. He was a very nice guy to do when he did. I got 2 pics signed
and the door to my glove compartment :)!!. I think the best part was when me
and my dad were on our way home, we saw JZD and his daughter outside the
hotel and they both waved good-bye to me. I just wanted to take the time to
thank all the members of the DML that I met and just say that it was very
nice meeting all of you and I really had a great time talking to each and
every one of you. Thank you to Dave Stragand for bringing "Vixen" she was
really nice to see. So tell us...how is it driving a De Lorean with no body
panels, no glass and a twin turbo engine on it? Must weigh like 1000 pounds
right now. Dave Swingle, it was nice to put the face to one of the
moderators to our mailing list. Congrads on getting the plaque for the DML,
you definitely deserve it! Another DMLer that was great meeting, was Erik
Geerdink and his father. Lets bring both of our cars to the next show, deal?
It was also nice meeting Michael Babb, Bob Brandys, Brandon Moody, Michael
DeLuca, Ken Montgomery, Bill Schafer and his son, James Espey, Steven Wynne,
Warren from DMC Houston, Sean Howley. I'm sure I missed a few of you and I'm
sorry for that, these are all the people I could remember. I really must say
that everyone's De Loreans I saw was kept in really nice condition and thats
what I want my De Lorean to look like when I finish it. I really have to say
that everyone that I talked to and showed them my pictures to were really
impressed with how much work I am doing to my car. I really must say that
when I got home today and saw what condition my car was in, I could imagine
it looking just like one of those I saw in Cleveland and I felt a little
better about myself and I just have to take my time and it will be done
before I know it. Thanks again for everything!

Dear Members,
I would like to thank everyone that helped out and the people that put on the
DeLorean Car Show this weekend, because it was a very fun and educational
event. Since a couple days ago was my first time ever riding/seeing/touching
a DeLorean, this was a very special event. Of course I had seen a DeLorean
before, but not in real life. I had a great time seeing everyone, including
John DeLorean, Kathryn, and all of the people there that you talk to on the
DML. I would also like to congratulate all of the members of the DML for
being the largest group participation, and receiving an award for that. Thank
you Dave for accepting the award for the work you have done on the DML.

Last month we had a thread inviting people to tell of their happy times
with their DeLoreans, instead of the technical problems that we normally
discuss. Now that the Cleveland Show is over it seems like there ought
to be more of these stories to tell. I will be happy to start.
YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK
On the Driving Tour we had about 45 DeLoreans plus over a dozen
non-DeLoreans. To my knowledge no cars had any mechanical troubles,
despite hot weather and heavy city traffic.
The first stop was at the NASA Glenn Research Center. My minivan full
of support crew (including DMLer Shannon Yocom and his wife Jenette) was
the last vehicle to arrive, about 20 minutes after the last DeLorean
pulled in. We got there just in time to see a stream of rocket
scientists pouring out of several laboratories. They were coming to
look at all the pretty stainless steel cars outside their buildings (it
took two lots to hold us all, increasing our visibility). Those
DeLorean owners who lingered outside ended up answering a lot of
questions.
That morning, I'm afraid America's finest minds in aerospace propulsion
systems did not get much work done.
The moral: We DeLorean owners have a special responsibility. We must
be careful and use our powers for good and not evil!

Well I took apart the ac vents and it seems as though a piece was missing in
the back. The part where the adjustable louvers are ties together. I made a
piece that replaced that and they work pretty good. Got the ac working and
can point it where I want it now but that fan failer light comes on when the
ac is working (faintly) and then it goes out. Is this normal?

Condition of the cars in general: Really, really nice!! Each one was slightly different, showing a personal touch, slight modification, and in all cases, alot of hard work to make them look like the Marque should look.

Hello List,
Someone on the dml told me about a place in florida called Hydro-electric
that makes carpet sets for 1960-present autos. They have a set for the
DeLorean which includes 14 pieces in any color you want. I had them send me
6 samples and I think I am going to put a light grey in my black interior.
The kit is only $360.00 and the carpet is not stiff so it will fit easily
they say. has anyone else on the list tried this? If you have, how do you
like it? you can email them at Hydroel@xxxxxx if you want a kit. just
curious to hear what you think.

A while back the Coyote converted DeLorean was for sale. The asking
price was $60,000. The ad was placed I believe in the
Excite/Classifieds 2000 for sale section. Pretty much all the
description for the car said was that it was the same car used in the
show, and that the camera mounts were still in place. A small photo
was with the car, it wasn't very clear, but the camera mounts were
visible. There are 2 seperate versions of the "Coyote", a kit car,
and the DeLorean conversion. The first did not have opening doors,
you apparently had to get in Dukes of Hazzard style. The man who
played the judge (can't remember his name) was getting older, and
getting in and out of the car was getting harder and harder for him.
This is where the DeLorean came in. The gullwing doors made it alot
easier for him, plus the car could be chopped to look like the
Coyote. Rear mounted engine, so the front could be exchanged with the
kit car, and so on. As far as what happened to the car after the show
was canceled, or how the current owner ended up with it, I don't
know. But I do hope that this info has helped some what.

Less than 2 months my D has been with me and I've already gone
through 1 flat tire! Luckily at home, filled it w/the air compressor
& drove to the tire shop. I have the Yoko AVS's on my D, but I need
to know if anyone here could reccomend a replacement for my spare
tire. It's still full of Irish air, but I doesn't look to me like it
could support the weight of my car after all these years. Ideas?

Hi all,
I would like to thank everyone who emailed me about my accident. Guys, you
gave me hope. Right after the accident I was devastated, but I recovered
with the help from a lot of people from DML, especially people like Dave
Stragand, Orlando Lopez, Mike Sullivan and others. Thank you guys. You
really helped me. I have an isurance guy coming to make an estimate on the
car today (just a rough estimate), then the car will be shipped to DMC Joe
for repairs. I'm sure I will continue to live the dream.... and that's
thanks to the DML.

Fellow DMCer's,
First let me say, "Ken, You be the man!!!". The show was beyond the terms
great. For those of us lucky enough to have been there, you know what I mean.
The behind the scenes work you and everyone put into this event made it an
experience to remember forever. Thank you to Ken and Richard, and to your
familles for all the support that they gave. Mike and Patti, (I skipped the
cruise -will not make this mistake next time!), Kathryn, and John Z..
A special thanks to Stephen Wynne for using the motor home to part the
traffic for us on the way in rush hour!
I still think that Dave S should have told people that Vixen was complete on
the start of his trip and that someone had striped the car (stainless panels
and all) at a truck stop. (Would have won the hard luck story award.)
It is amazing that we as a group not only pulled this off, but are now
posting photos for all those that missed it. What a world we live in!
The Tech sessions were very informative, thanks to all that put these on.
Besides the site of all 100+ Deloreans seeing old friends and making new ones
is what this show is all about. Who would have thought that at my table would
be the official Delorean ambassador to Costa Rica?
No question will be in Memphis in 2002. Beale Street get ready the D's are
coming!!!!

general just don't work very well. If you want to keep your donut spare
filled, you have to reinflate it about every week.

I had a wonderful time meeting so many people from the DML. Finally
putting a face to an e-mail address or name was great. Mingling and
chatting with everyone in person was a real treat. And I walked
(drove) away with many new friends. Even though my Delorean wasn't
there ( please come home soon!) I still had a great time.
One moment that I'll never forget was on Saturday morning when I was
in the Hotel lobby walking towards the restraunt, John Delorean and
his daughter walked out and said goodmoring. I said goodmorning, and
we chatted for a while. He wanted to give me $100 to buy him lottery

Subject: Aircon Pipes
Temperatures in the high 80's in England. 350 mile trip to make in 2
days time and what happens?. Air conditioning pipe bursts!!! No way I
can get the job done before I go, but perhaps the temperature will drop
and make things more comfortable.
However, when I get to do the job on my return, I see that the
manual says that I have to raise the body from the chassis about 2cms.
OK, its only 10 bolts to undo, but is that really necessary? I'm sure
someone out there knows a shortcut. If there isn't one then OK it's
body up. Any ideas?
It sounds as if the Cleveland Event was a real fun affair. In 3 weeks
time it looks as if we shall have about 20 Deloreans at an annual event
in England called 'Supercar Sunday' at which there will be all sorts of
supercars from Ferraris, lamborghinis, Porsches, and of course 'D's. It
obviously can't compare with Your event in Cleveland, but it is
interesting to see that your next event will be in Graceland, Memphis,
Tennesee, as my wife is an Elvis fan and I might be able to persuade
her that the trip might be worthwhile. I have to say that she is not
that keen on my 'dream', calling it ' a can of beans without the label'.
I'll have to convince her she's being a bit unfair!!
