Can I get the struts for the doors and louvres at the local
auto parts store? Or do I need to order them from a
Delorean part supplier?
If I can get them at the local PepBoys or what have you is
there a brand or part number to look for??
Other than this question I know where to get all the other
parts.
I had the opportunity to talk with DMCJoe twice in one day
and he is one of the most helpful people I have ever talked
to. He was not in any hurry and even talked with me when I
was having an emergency which was on Monday night when my
car would not start after having put gas in it and having
it overflow all over the ground from underneath the car.
He gave me suggestions but have yet had time to get my D
back on the road just after 12 miles of owning it. Oh
well, I am still sooo excited I own a Delorean. I am also
glad is it not my daily driver becuase I would be without a
ride!!

Well Folks,
As with all the talk recently about clutch slave cylinders ..
mine decided to let go... sp I'm going to be replacing it and adding a
ss clutch line..
What's the general consensus on:
1) Replace the clutch master cylinder at this time too?
2) DOT 5 vs. DOT 4 in the clutch hydraulics?
And of course .. with all that fluid dripping over the frame the
epoxy as come off ... anyone have any experience with recoating the
frame during this job??

Chris, I work on D's also but not as much as some others in the group. But
some rubber parts I replace just because rubber hardens over a period of
time. I replace all the rubber bushings around the injectors when I'm working
on my car's or someone elses. It's cheap insurance. When you take the clips
off and take the injectors out, the rubber will be normally as hard as a
rock. You might use gentle pressure and break them off. You can replace with
Bosch 2-430-329-002. If you can't find them locally, I have them at $4.00ea.
Back track from there. Good Luck.
Ps:Please don't drop something in the holes.Then you will have to burn out or
clean.

Most of what I see is relays or circut breakers. I have new 40 amp relays for
$15.00 ea and new Littlefuse circut breakers for $4.50 ea. One of the mod's
is to replace the wires going to the circut breakers with a ring terminal
instead of the quick disconnect. Try to find a brand call Thomas And Betts. I
was in the electronics industry for 25 years and they are the best. Bad
connectors will loosen up over a period of time, then some else has the
problems. Be sure you have a good crimp tool to replace the terminals or you
may create another overheating problem. Bad crimps can create electrical
overheating and burn up wires and other things. I crimp with a full rachet
tool and then solder. It may be an overkill, but I don't have problems in the
middle of the road.

Felix, common problem. Note what I just explained to another D owner on the
net.. Replace the circut breaker's with 40 amp ea. and always keep a known
good relay with you. ( Crimp wires properly ) with high quality ring
terminal connectors as to not cause another electrical overheating problem.
If you can't find parts let me know. I have extra's I buy for other D owners.
If you don't have the means to crimp properly, then I can put ring terminals
on the breakers with a short piece of wire and a high quality quick
disconnect on the other end so you can just plug and play.

The most common problem concerning engine performance is problems in the
fuel enrichment circuit. The fact that you had to adjust the air fuel (CO)
mixture screw to make the engine run is a clue to an enrichment problem.
Check to be sure that the frequency valve is buzzing continuously during the
engine warm up phase.

Thanks for speaking out. I can't imagine there is still IGNORANT
people in the new millenium. If the photo (film?) was reversed, how
come the numbers on the speedometer were not on the wrong side??
They're clearly seen on the "correct" position. (top speed 240 KM/H)
Now is the most interesting part..... All RHD Delorean owners are
driving the "ain't no such thing" and I think that is the real
meaning of " KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE " cause you can only drive something
that never exists in your DREAM!!!!!

I've gotten a few emails and phones calls from people on the DML asking
about the DeLorean documentary for sale on Ebay. I figured I'd send a quick
email to the DML to let them know a few details in case anyone was
wondering. I've put a bunch more details on a Web site for the movie,

This documentary was shot from 1979-1981 during the start of the DeLorean
Motor Company. John DeLorean allowed two acclaimed filmmakers, DA
Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, to follow him around for 2 years to film as
much interesting stuff as they could. The movie/documentary was shot on
color 16mm film, but I just licensed the movie from Mr. Pennebaker and had
500 copies made on NTSC VHS from a brand new master. I don't have any way
to convert to PAL, sorry. I've posted some tapes on Ebay as a dutch auction
(they will all sell for the same price, $49.99) and will try to bring some
to the DeLorean Car Show, but don't know if I'll be able to.
The movie is really remarkable, and I think everyone who sees it will be
very happy with the discovery of this lost gem. This film was only shown a
few times on ATV in England, so not many people have seen it. It's
mentioned briefly in John DeLorean's auto-biography, and that's actually how
I started tracking it down. The filmmakers are Academy Award Winners (for
the War Room) which I thought was pretty amazing.
Here are a few highlights of the film that I thought were the most
interesting:

- New Orleans, Belfast, and Geneva car show
- Crash test footage, and post inspections
- Private marketing and board meetings

Certainly sounds like it is related to the clutch throwout bearing. Throwout
bearings rarely fail without sending out strange noises hundreds of miles
before failure. My only suggestion is to try to duplicate the noise again,
if it repeats as before its probably the throwout bearing talking to you.

The clutch line can be seen by looking behind the left front wheel at the
rear portion of the wheel well. You can see it close to the fire wall
running down to the frame. If its black it is the factory original.

Yeah. If one is bad the other is likely to follow.

DOT 4. The advantages to DOT 5 aren't that pronounced when it comes to
the clutch (or the brakes for that matter IMO :} ). Also on many cars
(don't know for sure about the DeLorean) the clutch and brakes share the
same reservoir, so you have to use the same type of fluid in both.

Subject: DeLorean Car Show Update
Well you did it
All of the Hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn are Filled. If you need a room
still keep calling and ask. If one opens up they will give it to you for the
same rate of $99.00.
Also the Hampton Inn has 5 rooms reserved for the DeLorean Car Show until
Friday June 2nd. It is on a first come first serve basis and if other rooms
open up you can still try. If the Hotel is full ask for Amy at X 2063 and
she will help you. Its only 2 blocks from the Holiday Inn.
Hampton number is 216-241-6600
We have 115 rooms total reserved vs 72 from last time
Also we are going to top the 225 people for the events.
I still need a few more cars to reach 100 so if you haven't registered please
do.
Monday was a good day we added 20 people to the list (4 cars).
You should have received the reservation packets. I have had some people ask
about the individual events. Sorry I did not list each event. It was more
than I could have handled. If you need to know call or e-mail me. I will be
at the Thursday Evening dinner (late) and later at the hotel so catch me
there also. You will need to sign in anyway with me and we can go over the
events. (Mike will handle the packets Friday during the day)
[MODIFICATION: On Friday you can either pick up your packet at the start of
the Driving Tour 9:30-10:00 AM or at the Crawford around 6:00 PM. From
10:00 until evening we will be on the Tour.]
If you want to add an event it should be no problem and we can do it there.
As far as the Rallies if you are not registered or are not sure e-mail Mike
or me or just show up. There is no charge for the Cruises/Ralley and Mike will collect for
the Thursday dinner for those that want to go that night.
[MODIFICATION: YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THE DRIVING TOUR / RALLY! We will only
provide directions, maps, and audio tapes to people who pre-register. You can
