I have heard from over 20 people (at least) regarding the crunched DeLorean on e-bay. Nearly all said to stay far away!! I went to a car show here in NC today, and rode in and drove two running nice cars, so I think that is the kind I want to buy!! Buying a 20 year old wrecked car sounds like too big of a risk, so I think I will wait a while until the right car in good condition comes along for me. Subject: Trailing Arm Shims
Group,
I am in need of as much information as possible on installing three shims
on my passenger side rear trailing arm assembly. The drivers side trailing
arm assembly has three shims in it and my passenger side trailing arm has
none. How much effort is required to place three shims on the passenger side
to even up the toe in on the passenger side. Has anyone done this or had this
done to their "D". Please let me hear from you if you have.

Your problem is very simple to correct. You will need to replace the cooling
fan circuit breaker. Your DeLorean is probably equipped with the 35 amp
factory original. These circuit breakers have an 80% failure rate. We have
the heavy duty 40 amp replacements priced at $8.60.

I just had to laugh upon reading a "letter to the Editor" in the Spring
issue of DeLorean World. For those of you who haven't received the issue
yet, let me qoute part of it to you:
"In the future, I would suggest that you examine the publishers use of
photos. It is obvious that the publisher reversed the photo on the cover. It
indicates that there might be a RHD (whatever that means) out there and we
all know there 'aint no such thing'."
I guess that means all us Aussies, Kiwis, Britons, Irishmen, Indonesians,
and about a dozen other nationalities all ride bicycles instead, huh? Tisk.
Tisk. When will some people learn that America aint the sole country of
Planet Earth?
But seriously, I'm aware the writer (whose name wasn't mentioned) was being
sarcastic in regards to Right-Hand drive DeLoreans, but it was a down-right
insult to all us RHD owners, especially Dennis Huang of Queensland, whose
beautiful DeLorean was featured on the cover of the DeLorean World that the
writer was referring to. Regardless of whether a RHD DeLorean is "factory
converted" (depending on which side of the argument you favour) or a recent
conversion, most are by no means substandard vehicles! IMO RHD DeLoreans are
a great rarity, to be respected and admired :-)

On that Wrecked Delorean on Ebay,be very cautious,as the door jam(on the
black body) area is a structural area,and as such has to be repaired by
someone who has had experence on repairing fiberglass,as that area has to be
CUT OUT and replaced,you will NEVER get the orignal damaged jam back as it
was, as fiberglass does not crunch up like metal does,it tends to crack and
shatter and shift off location(structural areas)(as can be seen in the pic)
and is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to set back to its original position,hence the
reason it has to be cut out and replaced,(even the owner of that car agrees
with that,as he emailed and said so.)and then new pieces have to be
structurally molded in.....if you can do that then you can possibly get a
good deal.

The problem is (most likely) that your car is low on freon! I had this happen
to mine several times... usually once a year or so (due to a _Very_ slow leak
at the compressor seal(s), or so I was told). Wasn't fast enough to require
major service, but was persistent enough to cause me a problem every spring.
BTW - if you catch this, send me a point-to-point response - or better yet,
call! I've tried emailing you directly but your email bounced.

This sounds like a low-pressure situation with your car's A/C. When the
Delorean turns the air compressor on, it also turns the fans on... if the
air compressor doesn't have enough R12 it will turn on for a couple seconds
and shut off. It will cycle like that continuously. Funny thing is that
(in my car) the A/C still works, but probably at a reduced cooling
effectiveness, and could be damaging to the compressor. Get yourself a R12
fill up, and maybe have them check for leaks.

Subject: Squeeling sound?
Today I started up good ole # 06759, and after the car had warmed up there
was a squeeling sound coming from the back of the engine compartment. Not a
squeel that would make you afraid ;), but a sound quite constant, annoying,
yet low sound. I gave a little speed, nothing happened. Then I pushed the
clutch and the squeeling went away instantly.
Now, the real question is: What the heck was this? Is this something of a
warning of a more serious problem to come. Please help, and I will see to it
that it will be fixed and corrected at once.
DMC Joe? Got any ideas what this might be?

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHILST I HAVE NOT YET FINALLY ISOLATED THE EXACT AREA , IF YOU MOVE THE
WIRES TO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE HEATER MOTOR, THE 3rd STAGE FAN SPEED
WORKS. SO I WOULD IMAGINE IT IS A BROKEN WIRE OR A BAD CONNECTION.

Check the bearing on the pulley for the ac ( There are two pulleys with
bearings, mounted close to each other). Sounds like the bearing is trying to
go out. If it does while going down the road, itwill lock up and cause the ac
belt to come off. Check both of these bearings, they are an over the counter
part at the local pep boys. Or check with you favorite Delorean parts place.
It is very easy to change. The noise may come and go but be aware if this is
your problem it will go out all at once. Cost for a repalcement bearing last
time I changed mine was $4.00. Also if this is your problem there is a great
how to in a past issue of Delorean World. If you dont have the issue give me
an email and I'll get you a copy of the section.

Look for the compartment in the front of the car under the hood ( luggage
compartment cover.) There is a panel that removes with two thumb screws. The
entire kit goes in there, it is a little hard to get it all in, but believe
me it does fit.
