Unfortunately, because of that, it has claimed the houses of both my Aunt and my Grandmother. (and possibly soon that of my other grandparents, and my great aunt and uncle) Due to this, i will be putting MY money towards efforts to help my family, so all Delorean hunting for me has HAULTED. This isn't so much a complaint on my part so much as it is just venting the frustration and sense of helplessness i have because of this whole ordeal.. it is like a nightmare that you just can't wake up from... and soon, my town will be evacuated also *sigh* Maybe some good will come of this, but in the meantime, it's HELL here. -Michael ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 02:25:14 -0700 From: <mikeatk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: muffler caps Hi Bob, Just wanted to comment on the A/C. DMC Joe says his A/C will cool down to 35 degrees or so and he lives in Georgia. I live in the Phoenix area and turn the A/C down. To be fair, I replaced the compressor and accumulator along with a couple of other parts last year but it was well worth it. Maybe just another one of those needs attentions things. Of course no price is good enough for a Delorean so I kept my accessories which I will be selling privately. I'll use ebay, but I figured I'd offer these items to the DMCnewsgroup first. The items are: CUSTOM WHEELS: with upgraded sizes 15" front and 16" rear with fairly new Toyo Proxes 50 serire low profile tires. These replace the originals perfectly with no rubbing, even at high speeds, bumps or lock to lock turning of the steering wheel. Offer these for $1500.00 -4 rims with tires mounted and balanced with new locking lug set and lug tool. For the DMCnews list subscribers I will let them go for $1200.00. To see these wheels on the car go to www.geocities.com/deloreancars. SUBWOOFER CONVERSION KIT: replaces the cover of the locking luggage compartment. Kit includes speaker mounting plate, 8" Infinity subwoofer, 200 watt mosfet amplifier (fits in locking compartment) and heavy duty speaker wire between the two. The color of the kit is grey. This is not for use with the stock stereo. You have to run RCA, remote, power and ground cables from the stereo to the compartment. The price for the whole kit is $400.00, but again for the list I'll do $250.00. This can also be viewed at www.geocities.com/deloreancars. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 5 Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 09:15:24 -0500 From: "Robert Bell" <elduke@xxxxxxx> Subject: Re: air conditioning (was muffler caps) Well, my "D" had sit without even being started for 15 years and all I did was pull a vacumn and re-charge the system. To be honest, I was really surprised when it came up and started cooling after sitting that long. Maybe somewhere down the line I too should think about replacing some of the system. [edit] > In the DMC-12, however, this would block the air vents. (sigh) > Gus, Their is another solution to your GPS question. You can go with an Eclipse Commander & CD tuner or receiver. I had this unit installed in my Delorean with a small amount of modification. As usual the receiver indash, also a GPS antenna(gray 3"x3") on the dash by the passengers side A post and a small microphone(black 1"x3/4") mounted by the hazard button. The computer module fits behind the center council and a 400W Fosgate amp. is mounted in the compartment behind driver and all speakers were upgraded for better sound. Also an 8 disk CD changer is mounted sideways in the glove compartment by cutting out the bottom, but can't be seen behind the kneepad. All this was done to preserve the stock look of the car, with no holes drilled in the trunk, although a subwoofer tube(2-8") was added to the parcel shelf later. This unit is unique in that all directions & street names are shown on the head units VF display, and not on a separate screen display and all direction are spoken to you through your existing stereo speakers by a a voice that doesn't sound like a computer. In addition the unit is voice command so all of your destinations are spelled into the Commanders small microphone instead of manual input(good voice recognition software is used to accomplish this). Also the Commander controls the stereo functions to change to AM/FM or preset station, changes CD's and cd tracks and can optionally be used to rollup and down your windows and lock the doors or just tell you where you are, all by spoken commands! Although I opted not to hookup the windows & locks(to quirky) so I can't comment on how this works on my car. I will be adding it's hands free cellphone interface soon and will be able to place calls by voice command and listen through my existing speakers, not some tiny add ons. Of course all this technology comes at a price. But when I bought my car it was to drive and have FUN so lets go for it! I am not affiliated with Fujitsu Ten the manufacturer, and was actually recommended to the installation shop that suggested this system by One of the Delorean repair shops that I have used to restore my car. I thought that this technology fit in with the spirit of the car in which we drive, without changing the stock look to much. Translation: it's COOL, although my wife tells me that I do look strange driving while talking to my car ;) Unfortunately I can't make it to Cleveland, it conflicts with my work schedule, but info on the Eclipse Commander can be found at http://www.eclipse-web.com Gary Valenziano California Vin#5480 ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 8 Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 19:55:20 EDT From: Delorean17@xxxxxxx Subject: Repairable FASCIA for SALE Hello List, I have been working a ton of hours so I can get my DeLorean finished by the end of the summer. I recently bought a faded fascia for it since I am repainting the whole car Black. The fascia that was removed from my car has two 4-5 inch cuts. My car had the passenger side rear 1/4 panel backed into many years ago and it has sat ever since. The corner of the fascia was caught and torn(NOT smashed). The cuts are clean so it could easily be fixable by any body shop. I think glue may even do it. there are no dings or deep scratches so no bondo will need to be used anywhere else. I have decided to put it on ebay. I have 3 pictures showing its condition. I am selling it on an "as-is basis so please visit the link at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=33042400 6 Thanks list, Dave #2496 ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 9 Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 21:05:28 EDT From: kkoncelik@xxxxxxx Subject: Here's Johnny Hi I have confirmed that the Johnny Carson car will be a the show.
