It's the only add-on "kit" I know of for preventing ice on Deloreans. Later, Rich W. --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Heather" <hnwwoodzell@xxxx> wrote: > I recently got a de-ice kit. My Nissan 100NX (NX1600) USED to be mechanical drive on an analog speedo. I now have a Digital Dash using a sort of generator instead of the cable, which could be swapped out on the gearbox fairly easy. It uses a "classic" mechanical drum-type odo- and tripmeter, driven by a little steppermotor and I have since found out that NX's with analog gauges from 1993 and on also use this stepper motor to drive the speedo. But as the gearing is probably different than on a DeLorean you'd need additional gears to calibrat the whole thing. So I don't bother... > Now one for you: Is the angle drive a worm drive or screw-gear drive? It's actually two gears, both with 45 degree teeth, that's why you can rotate it "the otherway round" too; if it was a pure worm gear it would be impossibble to drive the spindle-cable by turning on the output cable. You can see one of the gears of my old, irrepairable drive here: <http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews/vwp?.dir=/Techie+Stuff/Angle+D rive&.src=gr&.dnm=One+of+the+internal+sprockets.jpg> Or if Yahoo screws up the link; go to the photo's section, select "Techie Stuff" (might need to click "show next 7", then "Angle Drive"... I can't find the old drive here, so I can't check the ratio, but I don't think it's 1:1... JAN van de Wouw Thinking Different... Using a Mac... Living the Dream... The fact is that there are many different ways that a person can finance or pay for a Delorean. The type of loan you get is dependant on many different factors, so what one person on this list is able to get, may have no bearing on what another may get. What is easy for one to do, may be impossible for another. Since I'm in an apartment, a home equity line would be out of the question. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I bet that most people who already own a Delorean live in a house, even if it's their parents. I plan on having these things done before I purchase mine. 1. Get a house. 2. Have an everyday driver other than a Delorean. 3. Have at least some money saved up to maintain the Delorean.
