Fall Tour VIII, Thanks to All. My sincere thank to all who came out and participated in Fall Tour VIII! I would have a long list of names just to thank all the people who helped out and made this event a success so I will just thank all who participated because that is ultimately what makes a DeLorean Event a great DeLorean Event! Getting on and off of Long Island is not easy or inexpensive but we had people from 6 or more states and more than a Dozen DeLoreans participate in this event. Many new faces along with Fall Tour regulars and yes Gary and Janice who never missed any of the 8 Fall Tours! I think that all would agree that the best part of the Tour was the Riverhead Raceway. Whether it was your first time to a live stock car race or you are a weekly fan of the sport, the figure 8 racing is unlike any racing you have ever seen live. This was followed by the Miller Lite Champion ship demolition derby and finally a school bus demolition derby. I have wanted to do a DeLorean event at the Riverhead Raceway for many years now (tried once before but I could not get everyone together). Unfortunately the Riverhead Raceway for a variety of reasons ( location, short season, and a few other things) really does not lend it itself to the traditional Fall Tour Format that I have tried to use in the past. I think I can safly say for all those who attended, I think they are probably glad that we still managed to have a DeLorean event that included this historic and unique racing or should I say spectacular automotive spectacle. I will probably not do another Fall Tour at the Riverhead Raceway but as a summer fun run or part of another DeLorean event I think that as long as the track stays open we may see an annual DeLorean Riverhead Raceway event in the future. With the right hotel this could become a more popular event than the fall tour and maybe as big as the DMA spring social? Here is a link to some amateur video footage from a previous Riverhead Raceway figure 8 race (also know as the Crazy 8 in years past). It is not even close to depicting what this is like live but take a look and talk to anyone who was there last night and ask them how cool this is. http://video.google.com/videosearch? q=+8+riverhead+raceway&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f#q=%208%20riverhead% 20raceway&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f&start=20 With a little Luck we will have a Fall Tour 9 and 10 but let me recover from this one first. If we make it to a 10th Fall tour and Gary and Janice make all 10 Tours I will by them both Dinner. It will be at a fancy French Restaurant Zee White Castle or Jock in a Boxxx :) Don't Forget the LBI Christmas parade Sat Dec 6???? In South New Jersey (Gary Gore has been getting more and more DeLoreans together ever year and it has also become one of the largest annual DeLorean events in the area) I am looking forward to that. I don't want to miss. For me the LBI parade is Close enough to Atlantic City that it just seems wrong not to go to both! Note: Casino accommodations are at their lowest cost in the 1st 2 weeks of December so you can usually find a casino room deal on a Friday night at less than 30% of what you would pay in the summer.
