See, there is a huge difference here. Jack said, "I am pretty sure though that GM." He stated it correctly, which is we really do not know the truth. Bob takes conjecture and hearsay and states them as fact. Nothing he presented about the EV1 can be substantiated. I am willing, however, to consider this as possible if I had real evidence. I have yet to receive any. I have no problem with electric cars or hybrids, other than the annoying clicking sound I hear when they get stuck in my tire tread. ;-) I think it is very interesting research and would like to see where it goes. I would like to see the hydrogen vehicles come to fruition one day as well. The hydrogen H2 looks very interesting. The only other thing that concerns me is these people stating these cars are some how more environmentally friendly than gasoline-powered cars. I must agree here. I did see the film and was pulled into it just so far, but as Josh said it was a tad biased (as are most political charged films). I am pretty sure though that GM did buy technology and then throw it away, but that's business. I am not in my business to make the World better. If someone out there came up with a better way to do what I do and I had the money to buy them and either absorb their tech or destroy it, I would. Does that make me bad? Maybe, but in the end all I am here for is my kids future. In their lives we may see an end of oil. My personal feeling is that would be great! Let's use all the oil up and throw the Middle East back to the Dark Ages. That would then force us to pursue alternative methods. I now return you to your regurarly scheduled debate already in progress..... Oil! Bush! Bad! Good! GM! Cronies! Darth Vadar! Lil Cheney! Swimsuit calendars! DELOREANS LOL!!! Okay.I can stay quiet no longer on this subject! My aunt leased an EV1 when she had the chance and took me for a ride in it once when I was out visiting her. It was one of the fastest, and most well built cars I've ever seen. The sensation of silently accelerating away from a stop light, blowing the doors off of anything that dared give chase was fantastic! My aunt had the car for as long as she possibly could, and fought hard when they came to pry it away from her. She was even featured on the evening news when the story broke that GM was taking them back. I still have one of the original GM promotional brochures for the cars here in my collection. Unfortunately, as the "Who Killed." movie suggests with all the other owners, there really wasn't much she could do to keep the car. She tried buying it at any price, but they wouldn't permit it, she tried hiding it, but that only brought the threat of a lawsuit. She tried other means as well, but nothing worked, and she was in tears when they came with the flatbed to haul it away. Bob, you'll be happy to know though, that as a child of the 60's, she flattened the tires as a form of passive resistance when they came to pick it up. (hehe) I was recently visiting the University of Cincinnati School of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, and they have an EV-1 in their lobby, because one of their faculty members was responsible for the some of the design work. I'll have to look into whether they still have a powerplant in theirs, as I believe it was delivered to them prior to actual production, and there's a slim chance it was missed when they smashed all the others. There's no reference to it in the movie, which in my opinion really wasn't very thorough. They based too many of their conclusions on conjecture, and forced you to draw too many implied conclusions from the limited facts presented. Almost every political debate has two extremes.if you consider both, you'll find the truth somewhere in the middle. We need Greg and Bob to help us find that middle ground truth, so thanks guys! -Josh VIN 5102 VIN 15964 VIN 11289 VIN 909 _____ From: DMCForum@yahoogroup <mailto:DMCForum%40yahoogroups.com> s.com<mailto:DMCForum%40yahoogroups.com> [mailto:DMCForum@yahoogroup <mailto:DMCForum%40yahoogroups.com> s.com<mailto:DMCForum%40yahoogroups.com>] On Behalf Of delorean Sent: Monday, September 10, 2007 2:42 PM To: DMCForum@yahoogroup <mailto:DMCForum%40yahoogroups.com> s.com<mailto:DMCForum%40yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: [DMCForum] RE: [DML] 50 Worst Cars-What Moron Wrote This? Greg you really need to watch "who killed the electric car". I watched it and couldnt believe what GM did and the Oil companies. There are actual people who worked for GM and other places that said that it was a cover up cause the car did work better than GM wanted it to.
