>I don't buy the "problems with battery technology" excuse that GM gives for not making a pure EV. Lithium ion batteries can allow.... I disagree. Really big lithium ion batteries are too dangerous. Drive a nail thru a laptop computer battery and see if it doesn't go off like a grenade in your hand. There are safer and more efficient ways to celebrate pyrotechnics. >Although if I ever did a conversion I would takea non running DeLorean in poor mechanical shape and copnvert it rather than convert a perfectly good DeLorean. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a perfectly good DeLorean that runs on fossil fuel. The main thing that is stopping me from driving any of my DeLoreans now is the problematic fuel systems. It is not worth my effort to make them work. I have been thru several NOS injectors and reconditioned fuel distributors, and they are all junk. Even the people who claim to know how to work on them try to keep their trade a secret thinking that letting go of precious trade secrets will harm their karma, and I am not going to let their karma run over my dogma anymore. >If you haven't seen "who killed the electric car" I would highly recommend it. I went by two Blockbusters last night, and both have that DVD already checked out. >The long term problem with this is that all this money will give them the POWER for ever. {evil laugh echoing} Dude, I don't think so. How much longer can THAT last? Be aware that the word "forever" traditionally has two meanings. One means for infinity, but the other means until a certain process is finished. For instance, if you mix epoxy parts "A" & "B" and you let them harden forever then that means you let it harden until it is finished hardening. The same definition also applies to burning in hell, etc. Get my drift? Is anyone interested in hearing a new version of Albert Einstein's unified field theory? The C^2 part has many revisions. But it is rather technical. >We are doomed unless we build our own cars. Dude.... get busy then. >We have enough coal to make gasoline for 1000 years! Well, not exactly. Did you see the DVD by Al Gore titled, "An Inconvenient Truth"? That is likely more relevant than the killed electric car DVD. If we don't stop burning all that crap soon, its going to get really hot in here. Good riddance to Jerry Farwell. He badmouthed Al Gore so much I wanted to throw a shoe at the Television. Good thing I was barefoot. >Oh, lastly, I do happen to be one of the "nobodies" who would buy a pure EV and I'd pay as much as a regular car for it. If the EV-1 were for sale today for under $30k I'd have one in my garage. Tell you what: When I get a reasonable production prototype chassis going, I'll put one under your car. You pay nothing until you test drive for a while to help work the bugs out. >Everyone knows the government, the automakers and big oil are screwing the people. You don't have to be a left wing environmentalist type to get that. It's a pretty universal feeling on all sides of the political spectrum. The question is, now, what do we do about it? We recycle what we have. It can be done without polluting the air. I just joined the electric car group last night. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ElectricVehicles/ Luckily there are now 678 members. When I applied for membership there were 665 members, and it looked like I was about to become Mr. 666, ack!!! Walt ow! been them all me thinks (_!_) (__!__) (!)
