It's not that I have a beef with John Lennon. He's an alright song
writer, and decent singer.
What I can't is how all my life, music critics, and whiny baby
boomers want to shove Lennon down the throats of everyone, as some
sort of modern-day messiah who was uniting the world thru music. He
was some dude who sung some songs, and that's about all. He made
records to make money people!
And I hate it when people compare Lennon to modern day artists. They
always get all overzealous, and try to trumph him over anyone else
he's ever compared to, by rehashing his "greatness". It's like when
they were showing footage of the remeberance of him in the park over
the weekend. They had children singing songs. Kids don't know who
this guy is! And they shouldn't be exploited as such to as active
instruments of their parents craziness.
Plus I'm no fan of the Beatles either, after their just plain
wierdness, and lawsuits with Apple Computer Inc. But hey, Helter
Skelter is a great driving song. I'll give them that much...
