[DMCForum] cooling pipes (single piece?)

Is there any reason that the cooling pipes that extend from the 
radiator to the water pump couldn't consist of a single solid piece 
with small sections of rubber hose on each end?  Is there ever a time 
when you would only want to remove a small section of that cooling 
pipe, and it wouldn't be just as easy to remove all of it?  

My friend has a mandrel pipe-bender and I was thinking about having 2 
sections made to replace the stock sectional pieces.
