I have to argue this point, though I can see some people thinking it is a
status symbol.  

When I first got interested in the car and started learning about it I had
no idea it attracted so much attention.  In fact, I so do not like attention
that after I bought the car I considered getting rid of it.  I also thought
about tinting the windows really dark so no one would know who was in there.

I changed my mind, obviously, but it still bothers me.  I guess it really
doesn't matter now anyway since the car still sits in pieces.
