Hmmm. A good one. Discovered recently that the Venturi Atlantique 
bi-turbo used the late 60 degree Renault V6 as found in the Clio at 
255bhp - and then they added turbos to it to knock 310bhp at only 5psi 
of boost. They still mated it to a UN1 so the bellhousing is available

The Best engine ever made is the Nissan RB26DETT (in my humble opinion). 
If you ever run out of things to do to it, you'll be over the 1000hp 
barrier. Shame it's a strait 6

I'd stick with the original manual gearbox and have it rebuilt with 
strengthened internals (availble over here)
