If you really want to do a conversion like that, the best thing would be to
buy a wrecked car of your choice and move everything over.  Once you do all
your research on what will fit, just search for the car.  eBay is a good
source but if you know anyone who can buy from an auction, even better.

I have been doing some research here locally and found this guy who
converted a Fiero by using a diesel engine from an older Buick.  I think
this is encouraging, especially since the Fiero is smaller than a De Lorean.

I also did a search on eBay and found a few Jetta TDi engines available.
But, with what is going on right now, this could be the worst time to do
something like this.  Prices are going to soar, and already are, because of
panic setting in.

"Rick Michaelhaugh works at ORNL and has "tinkered" with cars for a long
time. He bought this Fiero that needed a new engine, and decided it needed a
diesel. Over approximately 1 year, and working through some problems, the
Fiero had a functioning diesel engine from a 82 Buick Century
(transverse-mounted, of course). It is one of only two known diesel Fieros
in the nation... and he's running it on biodiesel! Rick has run it on a
variety of fuels, including a mix of 50% kerosene and 50% waste vegetable
oil(in the summer only!!), but is moving it to B100. He has built his own
refueling station from used tank and pumping equipment."

Hmm.. Does Mazda make any diesel?  I can convert my
Taurus SHO.  :)

A friend has a CRX for sale.  I may buy it just
because it is better on gasoline..  But a diesel
conversion for it may be nice too.
