Re: [DMCForum] Re: wheels shake update...again

Thanks Rick!
The handling is 100 times better than it was....and 1000000000000 time better than it was before I did the restoration.  I was afraid to take hard turns before, fearing I would break my frame.  Now its time to work on my high idle issue.  It comes and goes.

Hi Erik.

You tires might be unevenly worn from all the previous shaking
around, if you drove the car far with it in that state.  That would
be more or less self-correcting, and impossible to balance out
anyway.  Getting your wheels balanced is still a good idea, but if
the slight residual vibration at 60mph doesn't go away, non-roundness
from uneven wear while the suspension was loose is probably why.

Congratulations on fixing your car.

Rick.

reseated the steering rack to make sure.  I did notice that the sway
bar wasn't torqued down enough.  And also the passenger
tierod/spindle connection wasn't torqued all the way.  I also
reseated and adjusted the upper and lower steering column joints.
HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!  It drives like a different car.  My squirely
rear end is gone, my teeth chattering rattle is gone as well.  There
is still a bit of a vibration at 60MPH, but after I get passed 65mph
it goes away.  If anyone has any ideas as to what the vibration might
be, please let me know.  I'm betting I need to take it to a place
that can balance my wheels properly.  Doesn't it need to be done on
the car?  Last time i know it was done OFF the car.
