Maybe it is a little extreem but I was thinking of building one out of
stainless - but here's the thing, I wanted to mount it using a part from
stainless countertops.
If you look at some stainless table tops at fast food resturants, you might
see a fitting on the surface. They are a little bigger than a quarter and
have a spring loaded center.
2 of these fittings could be mounted next to the shifter on the passenger
side. With out the cup holder they would look like a couple of stainless
buttons.
The cup holder would have a U shapped bracket made out of 2 quarter inch
tubes (solid or hollow). To mount the cup holder just positon each tube over
the spring loaded button and let it drop inside (you might have to reinforce
the plastic from underneith). It would make it easy to put on and take off.
Am I crazy or does this make any sense?
