Careful Bill, this new found friendship is very fragile. It's true that
the power comes from burning fuel - pure and simple; More power = more
fuel EXCEPT when you consider that no engine is 100% efficient, and
there must be examples out there of engines whose output and efficiency
are improved at the same time, keeping mileage constant. We're talking
about a 130hp 2.85 V6 that does 20mpg. Now look at

This is one of the most powerful normally aspirated hp-per-litre engines
available today. Or if you wsant to compare a similar size engine
http://carsearch.yahoo.co.uk/b/a/crl_12266166/0/100354123.html
(that's 255hp normally aspirated)

Bill, drawing less air in means the engine will meter less fuel.
