Because with an identical O/D to start with, smaller splines are
stronger than larger ones. Just sit down and -think- about it Bill.
Think about the diameter of the shaft you'd end up with if you machined
off the sp[lines. Larger splines will result in a smaller shaft once
machined, therefore the surface covered by the splines is smaller when
you have larger ones.

So you're not interested in my offer?

You have to ask yourself Bill, if you are the only person to have
trouble with these "smaller, weaker splines", could it possibly, in all
likelihood possibly be, something you're doing wrong?
