Chris,

This is something I have been wondering as well, especially after reading
the posts from the owner of 0538.  I have also been wondering, since those
early test cars are seemingly missing and they were behind schedule, if they
were later made into production cars and sent out the door as fresh off the
assembly line.

Greg,

I came across two october 81 DeLoreans and one Nov 81
DeLorean (#6451) that all had flat hoods and no
indication of any body damage.  Perhaps these were
cars that were pulled off the assembly line during
production and put back onto the line when only flat
hoods were available
