With all due respects, I have a totally different theology. For me,
Christianity is not a "death religion". My faith is not motivated one
bit by what will happen to me after my life on Earth ends (that's the
point of Jesus' resurrection: the "power of death" -- every thought,
concern, worry, etc -- is lifted, allowing me to concentrate 100% on
the life I will live before then). Jesus started the world's largest
"urban renewal project", and today gives me the opportunity to
participate (as fully as I am willing) in His ongoing work. Terribly
exciting.
Mel Gibson's movie may well minister to some people, but it holds
little attraction for me beyond the Aramaic & Latin dialog, and lavish
production. Theologically it doesn't have much to offer. Perhaps if he
had devoted as much effort to "The Resurrection of the Christ"...
Spoken like a true Protestant, eh?
