Let me see:
(all suggestions rely on the regular wiring, If yours was modified - try
to explain what's different.)
I think I have a floating ground, but am not sure nor sure where. I
figured I'd post and see where I get pointed to look.
-> ground is not the main problem for everything, at least not in the
most points I read in this post.
I noticed the other day my blinker does not work for left, nor right. If
I turn the hazard on, I at least get the right side light on the dash
and hear the relay clicking (I did not check the actual blinker though).
-> ok this is interesting. did you know that the blinkers vary their speed
depending of the current that is drawn thru the bulbs ? If one bulb fails -
speed will be faster. If the current is too high (wrong bulbs ? more than
the
original wattage ?) this relay or electronics can do weird things. I am not
sure what it does on the delo, haven't tested it yet. But on my other car
it blinks slower or stops blinking with the wrong bulbs ! (still gets faster
when one fails).
So please make sure that all bulbs are installed and are rated correctly.
Anything else may be a waste of time if you can't guarantee that first.
Next - check the connectors of the front blinkers in the bumper. They tend
to
rust. Or the bulbs themselves are not installed correctly, those are twin
bulbs
and only have small contacts.
You had the car apart ? what about the connectors in the engine bay ? are
you sure
they are all installed where they belong to ? The ones below the cover ?
(you wouldn't
be the first one to do that wrong, but if the rear side markers work with
the light
switch, these connectors should be ok.)
My horns have a click, and nothing more when pushing the button also.
-> test them extra (wire-> battery), those original horns are a kind of
strange
sometimes.
They get their ground directly from the frame therefore I do't believe in a
floating ground.
My high beams are not lighting up, but will turn my main lights off. They
were all working.
-> if the main lights work, the high beams have a good ground, too. Switch
works
correctly at least for the main lights. Does the second relay turn on ?
Check the fuse 15 ! the contacts/fuse box tend to melt as the current is
around 20Amps !
Also check the relay and its contacts.
I also noticed that my fuel pump does not run when I turn the key to on
(not all the way to crank). But if I turn the headlights on (2nd push,
first does activate all side marker lights) with the key in the on
position, I hear the relay click and my fuel pump cycles.
-> this is ok. Don't worry, this was designed to work like that !
(there are different fuel pump relays, some run the pump for a second
when turning the key, others always need the engine to crank)
My side marker lights work, my headlights and tail lights work when the
light switch is
turned on. Any ideas of where to look? The only thing I can come up with
is a floating ground, but not sure where.
Note, my car is being restored, so any connection is possible from the
switch to the lights.
