Sounds typical. Mine were the same way.
I don't think you can get these anywhere. Somebody correct me if I'm
wrong. I "fixed" my driver's side with a lot of electrical tape,
carefully piecing the broken spools together on the shaft and taping
them up, then rewrapped it. Took me 4 hours from start to finish for 1
solenoid, and then my stupid lock module fried it a month later. So I
rebuilt the module and bought Toby's actuators.

I hope you can find the spools, but I think by the time you track them
down you'll wish you had bought these to begin with. I wish I could
reclaim the 4 hours of my life I wasted trying to save a few bucks, up
until midnight playing with a stupid old solenoid, cutting my hands up
on the old wiring, etc. Of course, when I redid mine Toby's actuators
were still several weeks away.
