[DMCForum] Actually on topic this time Re: stainless cleaner

The car does piss me off at times.  But I get pissed at it,
not on it.

Seriously, the stainless polish is counter-productive.  Bare
untarnished stainless is 'unnaturally' shiny.  Many DeLorean
folk like this look and try to maintain it.  But stainless
that isn't sealed by some polish residue will react with the
environment and in a few days develop a new protective layer
of oxidation.  Stainless naturally develops a thin layer of
oxidation that prevents further oxidation (unless exposed to
unusual chemicals, including urine.)

Another problem with the polish residue is that it tends to
accumulate dust & grime which makes the stainless appear
duller than its naturally tarnished state.  A local owner &
I had our cars parked side-by-side in a restaurant parking
lot.  We sat & ate looking at our cars thru the window.  The
other guy used stainless polish on his and was
complaining/asking what I do to mine to make it look so much
brighter than his.  What was my secret?  I dont polish it.
I use regular car soap and nothing else.
